I am looking through the maze of carbon fiber tripods and cant find what I need. I need a non-gitzo carbon fiber tripod that will extend to at least 70+" inches. I have looked at some of the China models: Hakuba, Induro, Benro..... but cant find one that gets high without gaining alot of weight. Most seem to stop at 60" inches unextended before a big weight increase.
I cant imagine Gitzo is the only one with somewhat skinny long leg models. the China brands are fine.
Any model suggestions I have missed?
Thanks all
Michael

Hello Michael, did the 150mm Nikkor end up working on the Gaoersi? I am planning the same 150 for a Gaoersi and want to be sure it will work. Thanks

I definately agree Brett.
As to neg film, I did quite a bit of reala with no luck. Yeah it is probably the Microtek scanning software. Punching through the film base I am sure requires higher D-Max as well. I have huge problems getting my T-max negs to scan as most are a bit thick because I shoot for darkroom printing as well.
I think the little bit of oomph from this Astia film might just do the trick. I find the Velvia just a wee bit to short on lattitude but not huge.
Where do you all rate the Astia?
Thanks you guys

Thanks John, any recommendations for my 400 iso applications?

-

Thanks for the chart Les. Neg film is out of the question, I allready tried that route, Color correction has been impossible.
Does this Astia rate out at 100 or something lower?
I am scanning 617 glassless with my Microtek 2500

I am wondering some opinions of what 120 slide film has the widest latitude for scanning. I know the velvia and provias well, about 4-5 stops, but wonder other experiences people have with other 100 and 400 ISO films. Astia?
Thanks

does this astia have a wider range than the velvia's? People talk of better scanning.

Mamiya 7, otherwise you are throwing it on a tripod anyway, so go 4x5.

-

try a re-install of the software.

Looks like Microteks are disposable devices.
There must be a parts schematic floating around out there somewhere.

Hello. I have an Artixscan 2500 and need a parts schematic and/or instructions of how to perform a deep cleaning of the internal mirrors etc by myself, as there is no longer any service in USA. I am a service mechanic by trade, so this is not a problem for me. A friend recommended you. Can you help?
Thanks so much
 Michael
Dear Michael, i'm sorry, but we don't have a manual with description how to clean
al Mirrors. If you try, please be very carefuly. The mirrors could be scratched
very easy. Do not loose any screws. The Carriage is calibrate, and if you loose
some screws, calibration is gone away.
"Helloagain,
So what does the factory recommend to do in this situation when the
inevitable dust starts to become a problem? This was a very expensive
machine, and if there is dust banding, it is unuseable.
Thanks again
michael"

"Microtek Support" support@microtek.de:
Dear michael,

the ArtixScan is a technical device, which need to handle from a technician
with technical understanding from Scanner.
You can try it, but at you own risk. Or you ask your dealer, perhaps he can
help you with technical service.

Thanks Matus, I will give them a shot. I tried Oscar from the USA support, but no reply.
Lets try Europe.

Is there a Microtek scanner service somewhere on this planet? I am in the US, and they dumped on us here, but I need tech help with my expensive artixscan 2500 ( instructions on deep cleaning/parts breakdown) Can someone send me a service link from another country with Microtek help? Thanks so much

Open it in photoshop, simple

I have a Microtek artixscan 2500 and need to get inside to clean the elaborate mirror setup. Does anyone have instructions on this at all?
Thanks
Michael

-

I notice my M7 will make a clunking sound from inside the rangefiner mechanism. Might just be the cam moving in idle. I think normal. Sand?

Hey Dan, did you solve yours?

Hello all.
I am running a Microtek (agfa) artixscan 2500 and I am now seeing alot of lengthwise banding/lines on my film scans. I am pretty sure it must be some dirt or contaminants in the mirrors or ccd area since this is glassless scanning.
I am not too sure how things work, so I hope someone can give me advice how to tackle doing a delicate internal cleaning. I allready removed the top-glass to gain access and tried blowing things out with canned air, but I seem to have added more contaminants and banding. I imagine the propellant from the can.
Help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hey Ted, did your tests ever tell you the printed numbers on the lens barrel are correct, or the rangefinder?

-

Are there any mamiya reps that are on this site/forum?
I just wonder if this problem can be corrected. I just cant imagine the focus ring mechanism on the lens itself could go out. There is no slop and feels smooth. Can a rangefiner adjust ment be out in a way where the focus distances vary?
hmmm
thanks

-

If the barrel marking turn out to be incorrect, is this adjustable?

-

Aha.
The lines that run horizontally (fixed) look fine. just when the 2 focussing planes come together, the distance is differant from the lens barrel numbers. I use this camera mostly wide open for village photography, so dead on focus is critical.

-

I still dont understand the vertical adjustment. What am i looking for? when focussing, only vertical lines move horizontally.
I imagine setting the infinity focus is best done on the moon as Giovanni said.

Tall and light carbon fiber tripods?
in Accessories
Posted

I am not tall but use the longer length legs constantly on the old heavy Gitzo. Shooting on a steep mountain grade, 1 leg in a river, rooftop, stepping on a boulder, deep snow, sand, architectural elevation etc.
Most tall tripods rate up to 25 lbs of camera which is silly. I shoot strictly 4x5 and 617 and no cameras near that kind of weight. tripods loose there ridgidity when the center colomn is extended, so long legs are a must.
So anyone know any tall models in their search?
Thanks
