1.
I have a question about comparing equipment across different platforms.
Specifically, I'd like to know two things:
1. If the Nikon SB800 and SB900 are more powerful than the Canon 580. Of course I have looked at the guide numbers but finding it difficult to compare because the manufacturers do not seem to publish their data in the same format. If one is more powerful, by how much when shooting in a real life situation? Noticible or not?
2. Comparing camera sensors, the Nikon D2x has a DX sensor of around 12 megapixels. The Canon 5D Mk 2 has a full frame sensor of around double the size. How do I compare the two? Does 12 mp in a DX format correspond to roughly 24 mp in a full frame format? That would make the two roughly equal (i.e. the same number of pixels for area of sensor)?

Thanks

 2.
I was also looking for a scanner that would make a contact sheet from an entire roll of 35mm x36 but was unable to find one that would cover the whole area.
To make contact sheets, I put each roll on a lightbox and photographed them with a DSLR, then inverted in Photoshop. This method works fine for me as I just need a reference sheet to quickly identify candidates for later high res film scannning.

 3.
I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro 13" and want to buy an external monitor for photo processing. Will I be able to calibrate the new dedicated 24" LED display without brightness issues? If you have this set-up, what are your experiences of calibrating? (I am aware of the gloss screen/reflections problem - I'm only interested in calibration issues here). Or would a regular ACD provide more accurate color?
Thanks

 4.
I'm looking for my first tablet and have decided on a Bamboo with both pen and touch facility. The two models available are the 'Pen & Touch' or the 'Bamboo Fun'. The two appear to be the same, except for size & color...?? Do I need the larger size of the Fun? The name 'Fun' suggests it is targeted at an amateur market, even though it is more expensive - is the quality good enough for professional use? (I don't need the bundled software).
Thanks

 5. I don't understand the assumption here. Your customers are ordering 15 prints from a portrait session. What's wrong with that? Why would you assume they are scanning? In terms of quantity, this seems like a reasonable order to me. If you are not happy with the income generated from the job, maybe you should look at your pricing structure or business model.
