Panorama from sunrise at Capitola, CA. The fog had rolled a few hundred
yards out to sea and the warm morning sunshine was bathing the colorful
apartments.

180 degree wide pano of sunset on the lake near my house in Clovis ,CA. The sun was setting and refelecting on the water after an afternoon storm and the colors were changing every few seconds. I did 4 of these and picked this one as the best. The print is on canvas about 14x36" and has gotten many good coments.

This is a photo I created in the 70's when I was just a lad. I used 2
1/4 graflex camera and Ilford pan-F film and develeped in hc110 with
a waterbath to bring out shadow detail. I printed (attempted to print
this image) several times in the darkroom, in the 70's and 80's and
again in the 90's but I could never get an image I was happy with.
Then I finally scanned the negative and got complete control over the
subtle tonal qualities in the snow. Now at last I am happy with my
image as printed. What do you think?

An image I created in 1974. I was studing the zone system at the
time, the challenge was: to get some detail in the deep shadows and
still not blow out the rocks in the forground in full sun. I used a
+1/2 exposure and a -1 development with a waterbath to bring up the
shadows. Thanks and tribute to Ansel Adams and Richard Zakia for the
wonderful books on the zone system. Bye the way, this image was taken
less than a mile from Ansel's carmel home.

I was Hiking Back to the car after a long afternoon shooting, when I
discovered this image, I thought it was too dark to make a proper
exposure, but I had to try. Shot at 8 seconds f11. I'm glad I took
the time to shoot this. It is one of my favorites from my 2006 Oregon
Trip. What do you think?

Very nice, I like the green on green. Is this HDR?

I really like this work of art. I feel like getting a cup of Joe, right now! the warm light is perfect for this shot and the steam on the coffee is a nice touch. Bravo!

I discovered this place after hiking several miles in the sandunes
near Florence Oregon. The Light was fantastic as there was a rain
storm just clearing. Please tell me what you think.

I love this image! it reminds me of the photos I studied as a youth, looking thru very old copies of national geographic magazine. A supurb rendition.

I was searching for a simple subject for infrared subject matter. Im
thinking of cropping out the grass in the foreground, making a
horizontal photo. Right now I like it without croping further.
Thanks for looking, let me know what you think.

I've presented the version of this photo with the little person
included. What's your vote? Better with out the kid or better with?
( I guess you will just have to imagine the version without, Eh?)
Thanks for looking!

Please tell me what you think. Thanks for looking

I love this photo because it first pulls you in with interesting graphics and composition. It is a clever use of positive and negative space. and then as your brain adapts the graphics become organic and recognition of the water and stone become overlaid with the graphis of it all.

It was only after using the Betterlight digital scanning back for several years that I discovered it's Infrared capabilities. The digital sensor is very very sensitive to IR light, hence a IR cut-orff filter has to be used to create a "normal photograph". When I put a hoya r72 filter in front of the lens I get the IR photograph. The Hoya R72 is a visible light cut off filter, that is when you look thru it you see almost no light at all (if you wait for your eyes to adjust you will see a very faint red image. What the camera sees, however is a bright, strange and different image, formed by almost exclusivly IR light.

I am experimenting with 4x5 digital infrared photography. Infra red
creates strange effects, most clothes appear white (except army camo,
i've discovered) the sky comes out very dark, and water is very dark
to black and it seems to cut through haze wich makes things look
closer sometimes. I am submitting several IR images, please share
your comments and critiqes.
