1.
hello, Im trying to achieve that high key portrait using my white background. I have the key light setting at 1/2 power and fill light at 1/16 power. In the book, it says it must be 2 stops higher than key light so I have it set on 1/4. Did I do this right. the pictures don't look quiet right. Is it the other way? should I have the back light at 1/2 and key light at 1/4?
Thank you in advance for all your expert opinions.

  2. Hello, Sorry I don't want to ask to many dumb questions but I'm getting so flustrated. I got a muslin black

background but it doesn't look true black when I shoot. I like to shoot as the sample I included but the background

looks grey or dark plum. How do I do the light set up? I have 2 Alienbees 800. Thank you so much. I'm so happy

    about this site.

  3. Hello, I have beem taking some photos with my Rebel Xsi and One AB 800 with Oct softbox and another AB 800

    umbrella.

I usually, set it on AV and f/2.8 and the lights is on the lowested setting on white background. I usually get good

lighting for a baby. Is there a better setting? because sometimes it doesn't look that bright (I'm trying to get High

    key photo)

    Sorry if I sound stupid..

Also, I shouldn't put it on that setting for group shots because someone in the back gets blurred. Could you experts

give me some advise on this?

    Thank you in advance..

  4. Someone here suggested I get the Jtl J-160 Light kit for my beginning light to

take pictures of my baby. But This may really sound dumb... Sorry

I just got the J-160 and I don't even know how to use it with my camera. I

have Canon Rebel XT with 430 EX speedlite. If someone has a time, can you

please explain to me how to use this light with my equipment? Thank you so

    much in advance.

  5. Hello, I'm a beginner in photography. I have a digital Rebel xt with canon

50mm f1.8 lens (everyone recommended this is a good cheap portrait lens) I took

many fantastic pictures with 50mm f1.8 lens but I think its time for an

upgrade. But there are so many choices. I bought the 17-85mm F/4-5.6 IS USM

Lens but I was very disappointed when it came to taking portrait pictures so I

sold it. my budget is around $300-$500. Please let me know what is another

exellent lens for great portrait photos. Thank you in advance

  6. Hello, I'm a beginner in photography. I have a canon rebel xt w/ 50mm f/1.8

lens. also I have 430ex speedlite. I want to purchase a light kit to take

those professional, bright and soft picture of my baby but I don't know which

light to buy. Do I need to purchase the umbrella too? Anyways what is the

cheapest option. Thank you so much in advance.

  7. I just bought the Canon Rebel xt camera. I'm a total beginner in photography

so I ordered some photography books. I want to take some nice photo of my new

baby who is 2 months old. Especially photos where its very sharp on the

subject but the background is blurred.

Which lens should I use? I'm on a budget. someone said to use Canon

telephoto EF 85mm f/1.8 to get this effect but that lens is pretty pricey.

Can I get the lens to create the blurred effect for around $200? Thank you so

    much in advance.
