Some people claim these are orbs (ghost things) but they can just be dust. I saw a thing on tv where sceptics proved that the "orbs" could very well be dust particals in the air.

Also, about you wanting to turn the flash on easily and everything, try pressing the up or down buttons (can't remember which it is at the moment) to change the flash. You can set it so that the left and right buttons change something (I have mine set as the self timer) and there is also a button on the left side (cant remember which so try both) that changes many things, and the other changes if it is just a single snap shot etc.

Again, you may already know this, I would think you would, since you are probably much more experienced with cameras than me.

I have that camera and I absolutely love it. I use the automatic features. If you do are you letting it focus first (by pressing the shutter button down halfway)? You probably know more about that camera than me since it is my first camera, but its just a thought.
