I'd add a second, or third, hard drive. Then you could use one as a scratch for Photoshop, and use the third as file storage.Add as much ram as you want to afford. I recommend Other World Computing (macsales.com) as the place to buy upgrades. I've always had a good experience in dealing with them.
take care,
Michael

I just change the aperture on the flash. If it is set for f8 and I want less flash - I set the aperture to f5.6

What about this? I've used my Nikon sb-28 on my RD-1. (We differ in that I can get immediate feedback on what I shoot) I saw that the sb-26 has an "automatic" mode. When using my sb-28, right after I turn the flash unit on, I set the iso to match the setting on the camera. Then tell the flash what lens (35mm, 50mm, etc.) I'm using.Set the mode on the flash to "automatic" Then set the aperture on the flash. On the camera I set the speed as 1/60. I'll usually either dial the power back on the flash a stop or so just to keep it from blowing things out.

First off, I'm a mac user and therefore don't have a great deal of experience with PC's. Having said that I would also agree that you should purchase a much ram as you can afford. Also, I have several hard drives in my mac. This is useful in that you can use one as a scratch disc with photoshop.

I bought mine from Robert White <http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/> a few weeks ago.

I've had my Epson RD-1s for about three, and truly love it. Light weight, easy to carry, and it gives me a type of satisfaction that my Nikon D70 never gives.
I live in South Carolina, and bought the camera from Robert White in the UK.

According to the review on dpreview.com, your camera can use either Adobe RGB or sRGB. I assume that "Embedded Adobe RGB" = sRGB. Others may difer, but I always use Adobe RGB in my work flow.
