  1. Despite never having been a big fan of HDR photography, I do

experiment with it from time to time. However, I'm generally never

satisfied with the results, as I feel that HDR images usually look fake.

This particular shot I took on April 21, 2013 and after combining the nine

exposures that I'd taken, I was pleasantly surprised with how this shot

    turned out.

I'd be curious to see what others think and if there are any tips for

producing HDR images that look more real.

  2. Thanks for your input, Michael...all very valid point. When viewing this shot on a larger scale such as here, I can certainly see how a lot of things can be more distracting as compared to a smaller version.

I just really like how the clarity of her face brings you right to the center of the photo first...but the hand and the way it rests commands the eye's attention downward to her fingertips and cleavage- showing feminity and a hint of weakness. The shadowing off her nose is extremely defined and creates a great triangle. I also like how her hand is in soft focus and the way her hair comes down across her left side, providing a bit of coverup and breaking up the symmetry.

I'm curious to see what people think of this photo because the

resulting effect was completely unintended. I really like it tho,

all over overexposure and extra contrast create this glow that gives

it an infrared effect of sorts.

It's interesting to note that this shot on the contact sheets looks

pretty normal...maybe the lab scanner just can't handle this kind of

film too well? Kodak Tech Pan, rated at 25, Y2 filter, developed in

12 oz. Technidol for 7 min 20 sec.

So, I got my friend to pose for me, since I'm trying to work more on model, fashion and

portrait type stuff. I'm still waiting for two rolls to come back, but out of what I've gotten

back so far, I think this is one of the strongest images...so I'm wondering what others think

    and how I can improve.

The snail is wading through water. I used a macro lens to capture this shot and I was really surprised by the detail the lens picked up...how you can see the thin layer of water covering the ground and partially consuming the snail, which was not perceptible to my naked eye. It's the macro lens that gives this shot such a shallow depth of field. I just put the camera on the ground, framed it and took the shot...and I'm surprised it came out so well, it looked a little blurry thru the viewfinder. I can see what you mean about the reflections in front and green saturation, altho this was shot on Fuji!

This is a shot that I've gotten some good responses on from family

and friends, so I'm curious to see what true photo enthusiasts have

    to say. Thanks in advance.
