  1. I always stop down, because I'm an all manual girl. I actually have never known any other way. When I switched from my vivitar v4000 to the *ist DL I just put it to manual and shot the way I always knew how. Now with the k10D I do the same. I enjoy the creative control that comes with metering, and setting the aperature to the exposure I want.
  2. I'm very happy with the Pentax *ist DL. It's light, small, affordable. Lenses are plentiful and affordable. I take it to the park all the time and play with my son with the camera strapped on my back and it still works great so it's sturdy. My son even ran over and smashed a toy down on it and it didn't hurt a thing. I had to hold my breath when that happened and leave the room, do the count to ten thing. :)

Someone else here mentioned a digital rangefinder, if you can afford it that might be what you are looking for too.

  3. I work at a studio doing portrait photography. I don't own the studio, I am

just a photographer there. I do my own photography at home,a nd it is

completely seperate from my work. I wanted to start doing location portraits

for profit, and possibly weddings. I am not sure where to start. I want to do

location portraits because I want to offer something different than the fake

lighting and backdrops that all the studios do around here. Plus I think kids

will be more resposive and comfortable getting their portraits taken at the

park, or at home than in the studio. Where do I start?
