  1. This is in response to the last post by Mr.Thomas. Of course an Architect can take pictures of Nature or potraits and enjoy it. The intent of the post was to analyse if this particular background (architecture/design)affects photography and if it does, in what way...thats all.Different backgrounds make the photographer look out for different things, which is what makes it interesting.
  2. Hello everyone,

Since I am an Architect who has recently turned towards photography, I am

curious to know if there are others like me in photo.net...

For starters let me write about the pros and cons an Architecture background

can have on photograpghy...hopefully this will throw up some points for a

    constructive debate...

Pros: There is already an eye for detail and perspective...the line is always

given importance. The drama of light and shade brings out the life in an

otherwise static 'subject'. When shooting buildings it is easy for an

Architect to see the original intent and try and capture that on frame. Hence

at that one instant, the photographer feels like the Architect of the building

    at hand.

Cons: It becomes very difficult to be a minimalist in the sense that

Architecture always teaches you to see the bigger picture...to always have a

master plan when doing things...so all the pictures tend to work well as a

series and this is not how photos work!

Any other architects reading this please write about your own findings on the

    relationship between these two subjects....Thanks.
