  1. "Try Tin Cheung Camera "www.tincheungcamera.com.hk" in TST. They have both new and used equipment (Leica, Hasselblad). You can see some of what they offer on their website."

You need someone who knows the boss of Tin Cheung to walk in with you before they would give you a realistic price. OTOH prices for bags and tripods are quite reasonable.

  2. Does anyone know if it is possible to mount Alpa lens such as Macro Swistar or

Agnenieux to 5D? I have looked around for adaptor mount but there is little

mention of Alpa to EF. I wonder if there is any specialist who would make such

    a mount?

  3. I am in HK and the price I got last week was below HK$12,000.00 which is roughly about US$1,538.50. I think the price has slightly dropped this week (maybe in anticipation of the local release of Sony A-100??) but not sure by how much yet. The price is for an official import to Hong Kong and does not include any memory card.
  4. I bought mine new and have absolutely no problem with focusing accuracy. As with most RF cameras, I think it would be best to at least check the accuracy of infinity before buying.
  5. Thanks for the feedbacks guys. Like I said although I did not pamper the camera, I never abused it. I always kept it either in a Billingham Hadley or Alice when I carried it outside. As to the scratches and the broken lever, I have not the faintest idea as to when and how it happened. I just sort of noticed it yesterday after a day of shooting which prompted me to ask the question.

Anyhow it is comforting to know that (Thanks to Jeff) that the camera is ultimately quite tough. Maybe I am just more clumsy than other M7 users....:)

  6. Just got a Mamiya 7II for one week. Love the camera and the lenses (43 and 80) are every bit as

good as most people said. There is one problem though and it is that the camera seems to be

rather fragile. During my brief ownership, I have managed to put four or five scratches on the

coating of the finder illumination window. Furthermore I discovered today that I have also broken

the flip out lever of the shutter blind (cracked in the middle). Although I have shot about 25 or so

rolls of film in the past weeks, I am sure that I did not abuse it. I did not drop the camera nor did I

hit anything with it. I wonder if other owners have experienced the similar problem? Thanks.

  7. Does anyone know any shop in Melbourne, Australia that stocks 120 film such as Tri-X, 100VS,

E200, Fujifilm 400H...etc? I have planned to visit the city this coming May and although I would be

bringing a fair amount of film with me, it is always possible that I would need to stock up while I am

    there. Thanks.

  8. Boris, Tin Cheung is one of the more expensive dealers in TST if not Hong Kong. And if you feel their price is cheap, go nuts. But most local I know don't shop there unless it is absolutely necessary. Like I said before, just shop around in the area and you are bound to find better deals. I am sure Tin Cheung has their share of customers. But maybe their customers have not done the research that we the general public have done. Or maybe many of their customers are being misled into thinking that they are the "only decent dealer" in HK?
  9. Boris, what's not to understand? You have your reasons to like this particular shop and I have mine for liking all others bar this one. One thing I agree with you is to let people come to their own conclusion. But saying that Tin Cheung is the only decent shop in HK is very much misleading.

Mike, the price quoted by Alexander in the second reply sounds about right plus or minus a few hundreds (HK$ of course). For private import you may try Francisco, Keung Kee, or Salon. They are all in TST.

Don't be fooled by the mythical Leica German QA/QC. My grey import MP had problem with the light meter one week after purchase. I had to send the camera to Germany for repair.

  10. Boris, I don't need pampering from Tin Cheung or any other shops even if I was to spend silly money on cameras. I research thoroughly and know exactly what I would be getting before paying for any of my equipment. This is why Tin Cheung is almost always the last on my list of shops to shop for cameras. I am sure Tin Cheung has their fair share of loyal customers otherwise they would not exist. I am also sure these loyal customers would get considerably better deal and package. But if you surf around any local photographic forums you would most likely find Tin Cheung has a rather poor reputation amongst the general public and certainly far from being the most decent shop in Hong Kong.
  11. You can always get better price and service from any other camera shops within walking distance from Tin Cheung. Most local HK photographers that I know would not shop at Tin Cheung. Try Keung Kee at Middle Gap Road or Francisco behind the Hyatt also in TST. Tin Cheung buys Leica M camera and lens from Keung Kee.
