It is clear enough that you are not new to photography :-) You must wait for the mist get in the woods and after the car has left then take the picture. Great one. The only thing I would like to see is a vertical format so the road tracks get a diagonal stretch more to the bottom corners of the frame. or just open the wide angle a little bit...hmmm Thats it! :-)

all the series here are very thought out! Bravo to the brave girl with that cold waters and the wonderful job done with the hair and makeup...

The composition in my 3:2 perspective may have a longer space on the right

Also a small colour balance or a small saturation just for flavour...

    Well done!

  1. Thank you John Peri, Roxi, John, John, Scott and all other I cant quite remember, for such a wonderful reading. I couldnt get a read on a more elaborate discussion between ethics, law, artistic merit, subject in photography, and good laughs on meaningless (for me) fights. For me, and its FOR ME :-) this photo has the value of its text above, AND the things the photo itself say to each person. I remember the sandwich photo of Martin Kovalik ;-) how many comments. But it was more porn/no porn discussion. They say a photo equals a thousand words. And I am reading tens of thousands outside the photo. :-)

    again thank you all!!!

I would only suggest using some kind of flash that suits your pocket and with that balancing the extremes between shadows and daylight. Also when choosing to shoot with the sun behind you try to avoid your shadow in the frame unless its a part of the composition like in a street manner style of photography. Here you have wonderful rectangles made with light and shadow and are cut by your shadow. As for the model, she should have agreed to sit on the floor without a blanket like a professional model can do, as seen in another shooting of yours, because LINES in your composition are very important element in your frame. I hope these helped you! Thanks for listening! :-)

  2. priceless. Not only for the message it conveys! It could be an advertising photo in newsweek for laptops anytime!(until laptops die and tablets live). I would contact either local dealers or big brands for this one! Maybe some advertising agencies would hire me or meet me to find gems in my terrabytes. Maybe someday they are not one or two gems but more (for them) and from one day to another I am known for the not staged real photos of mine that will travel the world. Again my hats off to you as you say :-) thank you!

    Hi John!!

This one makes me want to speak :-)

First of all the one thing that hit me right away was the sleek feel the photo has that some de-noising tool was used. I may be wrong. Although it may be a camera goodie I must say that I kinda need the feel of that grain :-) (the 400 one ;-) )

Secondly I want to see his expression, his face...remember that cigar guy in that old photo of yours with the smoke getting in his face while smiling weirdly (unforgettable)! Something like that!

I might be emotionally stuck (in a photographic sense) in an era I havent even lived but I guess I like it - for the chocolate flavour of it hehe

A forever fan of yours :-)

    Thank you!

This is a great photo, with the subject of this street photo placed good. Though the sky is overburnt in the final result shown. I am sure that many things can be done to elevate the contrast without burning the sky above.

One good solution is to raise the midtones instead of the highlights, adjusting the shadows to a lower level also. A second one would be if the original shot was in RGB to split the photo in R/G/B channels of black and white so you can choose what channel has a better aesthetic luck :-)

The overall blacks and whites in the areas are aesthetically placed well and equally balanced. The clothes of the old man are a very good signature of an older time, and the wide angle makes this a more graphic view. Well done!

very nice exposure, and nice adjustment of lighting/tones. I was wondering why the space above the head... it doesnt make a balanced frame...IMHO I would prefer a horizontal framing. the photo is great! It gives the word critic a true meaning :-)

  3. Your folder B/W then to now is a nice stroll in the park of a photographers mind. You can think of new things to ponder, you can add thoughts that werent present before, a generator of thoughts. I personally feel very lucky to have a photographer with such a great past and mind to transfer his decorative and fully memorable text full of essence to life with words next to great photos. This folder is a sure good seller book John. Especially with some text of yours in the right page ;-)

About the photo...well stories are countless. What about tomatoe farmers who spray chemicals or what about other people who pollute the environment and make houndreds of thousands live a shorter life of unquality. Are killings a choice of seconds, minutes, or is it maybe a whole carreer on a black leather chair making phone calls about decisions affecting millions of lives?

The whole folder is priceless.... :-)

Would you like to share some info about the lighting on this specific photo of your portfolio ? :-) It would be really educational (at least to me) thank you!

I read that you said it was your top photo and I would like to shed some light (if this is the case with me) on your photo. First of all it is a point of view that your best photo, is not actually this one, rather than the one titled JC with the woman wearing glasses. But that again like Crosley sais its like Vanilla or Chocolate. If I must support my opinion I have to say that this photo lacks (as all of your other photos) the necessary image quality to support the subject of it. It suffers of noise especially in the darker areas on the corners. The composition is partly ok with the thumbs up going on the moment person a with tattoo makes a line with the shadow of the foot but again the hair does not make a homogenized "skin" feel. I suggest you try again because it is a good concept and I must admit I like it :-) Shadow lines from body can make great opportunities especially if one warm light source is around :-)  I hope I helped if not then sorry if some line seemed like offensive.
