  1. Thanks for the suggestions. And the thing that confused me was, this was a reception, not the actual wedding ceremony. The wedding ceremony was a traditional Laotian ceremony. However, they decided to have their own "American" type of procession to get to the cake table unexpectedly. So that makes me feel a little better that it wasn't an actual ceremony. But I guess it's their way of incorporating American traditions into their tradition. I'll leave the images out of the cd definitely and if they ask, I will explain.
  2. I recently shot just a wedding reception for a Laotian wedding. This type of

reception is very different from a traditional American wedding and there was a

lot going on and a lot of distractions. I found out at the last minute that the

bridesmaids and groomsmen were going to walk down the reception hall as if they

were walking down and isle and wasn't prepared with the correct iso speed and

flash batteries. To make things worse, they pretty much ran down the hallway.

Every couple came out blurry. I am giving the client a cd as our initial

agreement, and wasn't going to include them. But part of me says that they just

want the memories, they don't care if some are a little blurry. They would

rather have them anyways. What should I do? I hate that I messed up, but they

know I am still fairly new at this sort of thing. Thanks for any suggestions you

    can offer!

  3. I shot a wedding recently and the reception was held in a convention center.

The director of the convention center asked my client for images from the

wedding to post in a power point presentation as part of the Convention Center's

marketing. My client then came to me and asked me to just e-mail the requested

8-10 pictures to the director. These are copyrighted images, and I don't think

I should just give these away. What should I charge and how should I go about

giving her the images, and rights to the images. It seems like if she were to

take my images digitally for a slideshow, she could manipulate my images in a

way that could ruin my reputation. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

  4. I have a Nikon D200 and a D70 backup, as well as a second shooter with a D200. No one around here rents lenses that I know of but I will check around to see. I have a tamron 17-55 that takes excellent sharp pictures, but it's not going to have enough range when I have to stand farther back. I plan on using both. I also have a Nikon 70-200 but it's only f4 and not as sharp.
  5. I do have a Nikon 24-120 f3.5 VR lens. I didn't try it at the time because I didn't have it. I heard someone tell me this lens was no good. Is that true? It's ED glass.

I plan on using a tripod also, and just taking the camera off the tripod to get closer shots if needed. I was trying a slower shutter speed to try and get more natural light in and diffuse the flash, but bad idea if there is no natural light i guess.

I had the white balance on Auto because I was using a flash, and setting the white balance on flash still gave me too much yellow; and setting the white balance to incandescent with the flash gave me too much blue.

Thanks so much for all the info, it really helps out. I will have another chance to do more test shots at and before the rehearsal.

  6. I am shooting my first wedding and I have done bridal sessions and engagement

sessions in the past, however never done the actual ceremony. I decided to just

go for it, and when I went to the church to do some test shots, I found it was a

very dark dim church. I don't have any experience with this type of setting

yet, besides a few shots for friends weddings. I am able to use a flash and I

have a Nikon SB-800 with a Lightsphere diffuser. What shutter speeds should I

expect to use and what ISO? I took some pictures that seemed to be the

brightest at 1/30th @ f2.8, ISO 400 and over exposed +0.3. But they are not

sharp at all. The subjects face seems blurry. Any suggestions?<div>00MK6i-38105884.jpg.f5f85e58d48c9a9ab21341e7bc670773.jpg</div>

  7. Thanks for the info. I may have to just wait and get the 17-55mm. I just purchased the D-200 as an upgrade from the D-70 so I didn't want to spend any more money! But it sounds like it would be worth it to just wait a little while and get what I want.
  8. I am looking for a great wide angle lens to use that will give me sharp

pictures. I have a Nikon D200 and love it, however my Nikkor 28-120 lens just

doesn't seem to give me the depth of field i want. I really like what I read

about the 17-55mm Nikon Nikkor f2.8 but it is pretty pricy. Does anyone have any

    suggestions?
