  1. <p>Ok folks,<br>

So many thankyous to all of you for your advises.<br>

The issue was display on camera screen and on the PC monitor. Both were consistent with each other.<br>

Software correction I can do, no problem, but I thought something like 30D should be able to render a correct color (mostly). My violets were just too obviously blue.<br>

I played with WB; various adjustments on WB SHIFT/BKT; different time of day, type light (morning, evening, cloudy etc.); waited for other purple flowers to start blooming etc.<br>

Yesterday, finally I got my answer - <strong>it's the camera, dummy!</strong><br>

My new 5D Mark II renders perfect violets right out of the box, with AWB!<img src="http://forum.arjlover.net/images/smilies/smile.gif" alt="" width="17" height="20" /><br>

I guess software solution would be much cheaper, no? ;-)<br>

<strong>Did I mention, I'm totally crazy about the new toy?</strong><br>

The following 2 samples are just snapshots - no processing, no fuss, just testing the camera:</p>

  2. <p>Hi folks,<br>

I've been using Canon DSLR last 8 years from D30 to 30D.<br>

Always had a problem getting correct purplish hues right out of the camera, without software correction. It finally got to me bad enough - I tweaked all the color temp/white balance/custom parameters/faithful/landscape etc. I could think of, but it's not working.<br>

Periwinkle comes out blue (not purplish); deep purple rhododendrons - dark blue ink. Can anybody offer a not very technical suggestions how to bring out the purplish hues?<br>

    Much appreciate. Lavi.</p>

  3. <p>Not just this lens, and not just lenses. I had to wait for EF 85 1.8 - it was out of stock everywhere, and waiting for 5D MarkII for 4-6 weeks (still waiting) - same issue at every outfit with relatively decent reputation.<br>

    It's in USA, don't feel like a favorite :(</p>

  4. Ok, more points. I'm sure my firewall is some part of it (all loads when I shut it down, but this is not a solution). But how come it works most of the time? If I don't change anything on my side, something must be different on PN side.<br><br>

Non-paying members thumbs NEVER show in critique page, but show in other pages. <br>

The thumbs come from different sources:<br>

The ones on critique page come from http://gallery.photo.net/photo/xxxxxxx-sm.jpg <br>

The ones on other pages come from http://thumbs.photo.net/photo/xxxxxxx-sm.jpg<br>

The thumbs on a front page of members (usually 3 latest submissions) also come from gallery directory and also don't display the same time the critique thumbs don't show.<br>

What is different in scripts fethching from these 2 locations? <br>Or may be a different IP address is used at the times when I have problem?<br>

And why non-paying members thumbs NEVER show? <br> I think this might be the key to where my problem is, but only a person who can look at scripts might be able to answer these questions.<br>

I have XP professional and 4 different browsers, but none works in these periods and I think are irrelevant to the problem.

  5. This is the thing - most of the time it works ok and only doesn't display the thumbs of non-paying members (which I guess is by design). First time it happened when we had the server problems in October and was fixed in a couple of days. Second time it happened a month later and Jin traced it to a problem with log file. Now it happened on Christmas day and still going on - I seriously doubt that somebody was spending holidays changing scripts. So whatever problem it is, I think is intermittent and affects other people in other ways, but is real nevertheless. The fact that is happens at the end of the month makes it peculiar as well. And I checked - it's not working in my Firefox, Mozilla, Opera and IE. I can see thumbs in albums and everywhere else, but not in critique page. And I didn't change anything in my blocks between the time it worked and stopped working.
  6. I don't want to repeat my previous postings - the situation is the same as was

in November and October (and about the same time of month as well).<br> Seems to

be a monthly occurence.<br> <b>Just out of curiosity - am I the only one who

has/notices this problem, or only one bitching about it?</b>

  7. Ah, I was mostly thinking of holiday greetings and family/home photos limitted to family and friends, like Yahoo album allows, but I can see your point. <br>There're already quite a few photos here that make me wish there was a filter available.<br> Thanx Lila, your usage of this feature makes sense too :)
  8. Just checked the feature that allows to assign a zero or negative value to a

folder one doesn't want to be visible. The album is not showing up in the

"photos" display. However the name of the "invisible" folder is visible on the

photog's main page and the photos included in invisible folder are displayed on

the same page among the sample 3. <br>So effectively these folders are visible

and accessible for anybody who checks the main page. If this is how it is

intended, I don't see the point of doing it in the first place. But if this is a

    bug... Does anybody know?<br>

I would much rather prefer to give a direct link to the photo (or album) to

selected people I want to see it. So the only way to see a photo is if I provide

a link. But the folder should be visible in "my workspace" area.<br> Does it

    make sense?

  9. Hello,<br>

Am I the only one here who can't see thumbs? <br>

Some of my own are missing, <b>none in the critique forum shows up :( </b><br>

The last time I had this problem was during the power failure in October.<br>

    hosting.photo.net doesn't ping either.<br>

    <b>Heeeeeeeelp! Pleeeeeeese!</b>

  10. I hate to be a pain, but my firewall doesn't allow access to ip unless it's specifically listed. So, eventhough the PN seems to be functioning, I really need the <b>redirected IP(s) of the following areas: <br>

    hosting.photo.net <br>

    thumbs.photo.net <br>

    gallery.photo.net <br></b>

and any other links that come to your mind.<br>

Also, if there's anything to know about changes to scripts, for those a bit technically oriented, please help. It's very stressful not to be able to access my own photos, or thumbs while for some reason, I can see other people's work.

    Thanx for any help. Lavi.

  11. Hello,<br>

Am I the only one here who can't see any thumbs? Not my own, nor any in critique

    forum :(<br>

I can right-click and use show image (thumb) and then it shows up on the forum,

but I can't do it for every thumb there, it would take forever! Any ideas?
