    I take this photo in Sahara desert, last June. You can see a very old

    Camel left by his owner to die near a water tank. I used a Mamiya 645

    AFD camera with Kodak Tri-X 400 Asa, developed in HC-110, dilution g

    due hard light.

    The Berbere

    Aziz, the Berbere Touareg from Sahara desert, north of Africa. Take

    this portrait in lateral open window natural light. Warm tones came

    from the "ocre" colours of the walls, typical mud walls from Sahara

    villages. Aziz have Berbere Touareg origins from sub-saharian Africa.

    The Weaver

    This is a photo from a berbere lady from the UNESCO well known Kasbah

    in Morocco. This lady spend his life in "tapis" and "kilims"

    handicraft production. I take this photo inside her home. ligth cames

    from a hole in the roof, tipical in Arab houses. No electrical power

    here.

    The Wool Dyer

    I found this gentleman in Marrakech "souks". He is a wool dyer and

    spend his life in this environment. As is a inside shoot i used only

    the light from an open door, very low available light, so some

    movement is added to the photo.

  1. This is berber boy that belongs to a family of Gnaua music performers.

    He lives in Sahara desert, south of Morocco in Algerian border. I take

    this photo last June inside his home, near a window to modelate te

    human element with incident lateral light. Hope you like it.

    The Nomads

    Nomad grandmother and grandson in Sahara desert. Caption from June of

    2011. It´s about 47ºC outside, i use side light from a semi-open door

    to modelate human elements.

    Taked with medium format camera 6x7 with Kodak Tri-X 400 Asa film in

    2009, center of Portugal. It´s part of "Rural Moments" project. It´s a

    lady, she takes the sheeps every day to high mountains.

    Sahara

    This photo was taken at Erg Chebbi, Morocco, during sunset. Human

    element is my friend Joseph, son of a great friend of me. Light is

    very good, filtered from the Iceland Vulcano ashes cloud that affects

    Morocco in May of 2010 and stops all flights from south Morocco airports.

  2. I found this little girl in Sahara Desert in a Berbere nomad camp near

    Rahmlia. She cames to me with that eagle under his arm, and my berbere

    guide and translator tells me the eagle is little girl pet. I take

    some pictures of girl and all the time the eagle try to atack me to

    protect his little owner, the girl.

  3. A encenation in a old factory. Used film Kodak Tri-X Pan 320, Mamiya

    RZ67 PROII and 90mm/f3.5 lense. Available natural light. Film

    developed in TMAX 1:4 and scanned in Epson V700. Hope you like the

    great tonal gama of Tri-X Pan.

    This photo is part of my "Rural Moments" collection and project, taked

    in medium format 6x7. Scanned directly from film and no manipulation,

    except some dust removal. This old lady is from a rural comunitarian

    village in countryside of Portugal and was taked in 2008.

    I take this portrait in Meknes, in april. The white spots in head of

    model are natural. This gentleman is a weaver of real Berber rugs and

    carpets.

    Yossef is the masculin element of a nomad tribo in Shara, but the

    tribo is ruled by his mother, this is a rare case of matriarchy in

    muslim tribos. This photo has taken with direct sunlight reflected in

    orange mud walls of the Saharian villages.

    This is Sheik Jamal Ibn Mohamad, guardian of Ait Benn Haddou, in Morocco.

    Portrait made with Mamiya RZ 6x7 PROII, lense 110mm/f2.8 and film

    Kodak Tri-X 400 . The light came from open door. I take this photo

    when i drink a tee after Mohamad invites me.
