The White House would be off to the left of the photo. The street in front
of the White House was still open when this picture was taken.

Thank you, Hayder!

Thanks, Bob. One of these days, I'll scan the negative and it should be interesting to see how it comes out. This is from a scanned snapshot. I've got a lot of old negatives that I need to scan, actually.

Let me take the opposite point of view on the power lines. Without them, the picture might not be as interesting and compelling. I think those high-tension lines may actually be adding to the "tension" in the photograph (i.e., I think they may make the picture better on the visual level).

Thank you, Tony.

I think I took this picture by poking my camera through the chain link
fence surrounding this demolition site.

I took this picture before picking up my car on the way home from work
one night.

Thanks, Marta. I notice that when I look at this picture on a different computer than the one I typically use, the picture quality seems a little harsh, as if I sharpened it too much or perhaps because I took it with my first digital camera, which is a point and shoot, albeit a reasonably good one. Anyway, I may try to do my "post-processing" on this one over again and see if I can notice any difference.

The symmetry of the twin orange earth movers against the blue sky and
the straw-colored buildings is kind of appealing, no?

I snapped this picture on the bus in the summer, in the height of the
presidential campaign. I've never gone to that web page, so I don't know
what's there.

One of the guys on the wrecking crew takes a break and surveys the
scene, standing beside his orange machine.

Thanks, Allan. It was a pretty interesting process to watch too.

A very slow method of taking down some city buildings was used to
avoid damaging the surrounding buildings. It took a month or so to
complete.

Thank you, Gopi,

Sitting inside a cafe, R seems to be in her own world for the moment.

Thanks, Tommy. I wonder whatever happened to Mel's Deli. I don't think it's there anymore.
