I have both, I use the 17-55 2.8 more. There is nothing like having an straight f 2.8 zoom.

Yakim, Sorry that you got fired, This is life , It has ups and downs.

If it was me, I'd just take the 7d, 10-22, 17-55 and the 55-250. I suspect that 10-22 would be the most used lens on that trip.

Have a good trip, And take care.

My Father's 18-200 also does that.

+1 with Bob, I don't see any lens , Except for the 50mm 1.8, That has not been improved in the latter version.

Send it to canon, I suspect a flexible wire inside snapped due to zooming action and old age, Causing the aperture mechanism to malfunction, Which then results in error 01 message on the lcd screen.

Happened to me on my 24-105. A common problem with these lenses.

Me too, They should also offer it on 550d/t2i, which I enjoy using.

I highly recommend the efs 17 55 2.8 IS, It is a superb lens, Sharp and fast. I only got the lens recently, Makes me wonder why I had not bought it earlier.

Go for it !

Life is short, Just enjoy whatever lens you got.

Hi , I would like to express how pleased I am on the firmware 1.0.9. Before , I find the ALO unusable , The picture quality when ALO was used on the old firmware is ugly. But with the new firmware , The pictures are really nice . I highly recommend you to upgrade to this new firmware, It's worth it.
I like it alot when canon have image quality related firmware update. 2 thumbs up for Canon.

I am used to slow zoom with typical f number of 3.5 to 5.6, But when I tried the 17-55 2.8 IS, There was no going back, I then just bought one. A superb lens, It even makes my 24-105 4L lens , feel slow. ( No offense to other 24-105 owners :)

Hi Janice,

Th lcd panel itself is located behind a plastic glass , If the panel is broken , It would show black ink-like image even when the camera is not on.

But if the outer glass cracked it would be relatively easy to replace and you can find replacement on ebay.
I already found one.

The 60d have fast AF, But when I tried BIF and sports with it, Set the af to ai servo and all af points activated, I feel that the 9 point Af is lacking. So during that time I was thinking of buying a 7d :).

Other than that, The 60d is a great camera on it's own, Especially when the need for the swivel screen arises.

Yes, In my experience it does increase the noise at any iso setting , shadows or not.

I just received a 17 55 IS yesterday and I'm very happy with it, I also have/had other standard zooms like the 24-105L, 17-85 IS, 18-55, 18-55 IS, 18-200 IS, and tamron 17-50 2.8 VC.

If I have to start from scratch again, I would only buy the 17-55 IS and the 18-200 IS for outdoor daylight use. All the others are just waste of money for me and some were sold already.

I would recommend a Hoya UV filter to protect your B+W filter.

-

The only concern I have about the 70 300 VC is that , The VC is not smooth and fast , There is an image wobble in the viewfinder when it kicks in, Resulting in blurred images when it coincides the shutter press.

-

+1 for the one shot mode.

The only problem remaining would be the AF speed, I have compared the VC version of that lens (which is known to be faster Afing than the non VC version) to the canon 17 55 is, The canon is faster.

Just buy a new one :)

My own experience with 18-55 IS is that it is sharp at close distance , But becomes considerably softer when being focused at infinity distance, Therefore, Not so good as a landscape lens. I have this theory that canon designed it that way , So that it will have good ratings when reviewed , But in real life use It is not as sharp as the reviews would tell you.

Unfortunately for you, $300- is way below the price range of good landscape lenses.

When Nikon finally does it, You'll still have to wait 3 years for the Canon version, LOL

Who needs a 60D?
Probably people who are not Photo.net members.

I only use the WB/shift to neutralize the canon color rendition, So far I haven't used it as an alternative to tungsten WB, But I think it can be used that way. My guess is ,Shift it to blue.

Pictures won't download to computer
