I have the D200 and the 18-200 VR and the Tokina 12-24. Regarding the 18-200: I got this lens not long after it came out (was using with a D70 at the time) and I have one concern with the lens and that is it "creeps" if left at anything other than the 18mm position. That is, if I take a shot at, say, 36mm and don't retract the lens all the way back to the 18mm position, the lens will pretty quickly stretch out to full 200mm just from gravity. I spoke with a Nikon instructor in-person about this and he said it was normal.
Perhaps it's normal but it is a bit disconcerting.
That said, I love this lens. I think you can get a good 3, and sometimes 4 f-stops, improvement due to the VR.

Samantha,
See report on "corduroy effect" or color banding here - http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/D200/D200A.HTM
This report leads one to believe that the effect varies in intensity and noticeability from camera to camera (and I suppose from exposure to exposure) and may not be an issue for many people. I have not noticed it with mine but I have shot fewer than 1,000 photos with it so far (and posted none, yet).

to Jason,
I don't know about "NAS" but I work in the telecom industry where everything has a TLA (Three Letter Acronym) and I'm guessing that NAS is:
Nikon
Acquisition
Syndrome
Just a guess. I'm waiting for an informed answer, too.
