  1. Jim,

    <p>

    I use a focus rail with my P6x7 and 135

    Macro lens often. The one I have is a Slick 2

    Axis Macro Focus Adjust, Made in Japan. It

    is large and heavy duty 2.5 lbs. and I paid

    $125 used mint. I have never seen another

    one as heavy duty. It is easily a match for

    the big 6x7 and works great for copy work

    also because you can adjust side to side

    instead of moving your tripod. If you find a

    source for these let me know because I

    would like to recomend them to others.

  2. I use a Slik 2 Axis Macro Focus Adjust, very heavy duty with heavy castings. I bought it used for about $125 U.S. at a local camera shop. Works great for the P 6x7 and the side shift is very handy for copy work. I would ask B&H Camera in NYC if they sell it or contact Slik directly.
  3. I have been using a Pentax 6x7 for several years and it has been very reliable for me. The only problem I had was when I stuck my thumb through the shutter curtain when the camera was being reloaded. The shutter curtains are quite vulnerable to damage when you have the back open so it is quite possible that this would lead to a higer damage rate among rental camera bodies.

    I have had trouble with Blads over the years. Shutters jamming and body crank problems most often.

    Good Luck,

    John Brink
