  1. I really like it! The photos are wonderful, and I kind of like the "event" background music/

noise. My only question is why are the links repeated both on the upper right and lower left

    of the gallery page?

  2. Steve, you'll love the Mac! I have a non-intel iMac (G5 PowerPC) running OS 10.4.9, and

also use a laptop running Windows XP Pro. The only problem that I had in initially setting

up my external drives was that the Mac did not have permission to write to the drive. The

Mac would acknowledge it and could read from it but could not write to it. Reformatting

the external drive to FAT 32 instead of NTFS cured the problem. I can now move the

drives back and forth between the Windows and Mac machines without a hitch.

If someone else has a different/better solution, I'd love to hear it. This was all I was able

to come up with in an afternoon of research, but it has worked well.

    Hope that helps! --Becky

  3. I use iPhoto for my initial download off of my camera. I shoot almost entirely in RAW,

because it allows so much more fine tuning of the image. iPhoto drops the original,

untouched images into a folder and then does its own automatic jpg conversion. This is

great for quick pictures of the kids that I want to email to Grandma, and it is a very quick way

to preview what I've got. If I want to work on them, I simply open the original file in

Photoshop. I realize that this doesn't answer your "which Photoshop" question, but I wanted

you to know that iPhoto can be a valuable tool as well. It also has some basic editting tools.

You might want to play with it before you decide what other software to purchase.

  4. For single images (and probably other items, I only have experience with single images) it is

hard to beat Mpix. They do high quality work, with an amazing turn-around time and their

customer service is wonderful. When I've emailed with questions or concerns, I've always

gotten a prompt reply from a real person who seems to care about making sure things are

done well and questions are answered completely.

  5. Marc, thanks for the great thread and technique. Gary, thanks for the links. My iPod, Photoshop and I are zipping right along. I'm a Photoshop beginner and I've made more progress in learning technique in the last 24 hours than in the previous 24 days. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
  6. I love your photos, and you have a wonderful eye for detail. If your portfolio has a mix of shots similar to what is on your website, you might want to consider adding more "people moments". I think the detail shots add spice, but shouldn't be the bulk of what you show. Brides, IMO, are looking for the interaction between people. The shots that you have that show such interaction (the couple dancing, the young children) are wonderful--you just need more of them.
  7. Check out the Hasbro projector on Amazon. There are 20 consumer reviews, which go from

love it to hate it. It does appear to require a very dark room, which may not be possible

depending on where the rehearsal dinner is held.

Is it possible that the wedding site has a projector you could borrow or rent?

  8. For what it is worth, I was confused and thought the first set was the couple that you knew and was agreeing that you had captured the emotion of the day. When I opened the second set, I realized my mistake! I think you did a marvelous job with both weddings. Your friend's pictures probably elicit more of an emotional response from you because you have emotional ties to the people. I'm sure the other set do the same for those close to that wedding. Great work!
