  1. So here's my problem... I own a quad core G5 which has a Pioneer DVR 110D

installed. From day 1 I couldn't get the DVD burner to burn at any speed over 1x

when burning DVDs, but CDs would write at 16x. Finally got frustrated with it

and called our local Mac retailer. What they told me was that Macs will only

"recognize" Apple's own DVD-Rs, thus allowing them to burn at 8x, but all other

DVD media was "unrecognized" and thus burns at 1x. Ok, fine, but Apple DVD's are

more than twice as expensive as what I'm currently using and still more

expensive than my new MAM-A Gold Archive DVD-Rs.

I know there are quite a few people on here using Macs so I'm sure I'm not the

only one who has run into this problem. So, has anybody found any other

company's DVD-Rs that will burn at full speed on a Mac? What I'm currently using

    are Verbatim and MAM-A DVDs.

  2. Don't know of any resources, but good fall colors are usually best in the southern/central

rockies (I live in the La Platas) around the first to second week of October, however, we've had

a uncharacteristically wet and cool summer, so I'm guessing that if these low temperatures

keep up, then it will be best around the end of this month/first part of Oct.

  3. Wasn't quite sure what forum to put this in...but here it goes. I'm using Moab Entrada Bright White inkjet

paper and have run into a problem with matting. All the white matt samples I have placed next to the

paper have either been too cream colored or too grey. I'm trying to get as close as possible and I'm sure

I'm not the first to run into this problem. Has anybody found a white matt board that is as white as todays

bright white fine art papers or am I s.o.l.?

  4. Something you may consider is running Colorbyte's ImagePrint RIP with the 2400 with their Phatte black system. Basically it allows you to run the matte black cartridge in the light light black slot without ever having to switch. I've been running it on the 9800 and I can see no difference in print quality between what I print now and what we got before we went with the Phatte Black system...it may not be worth the cost to you considering that the 2400's lines are a lot shorter, but it is a solution...plus ImagePrint is amazing anyway.
  5. I've been running CS2 on my boss's new MacBook Pro (2gb ram/ 7200 rpm drive) and it's definately not as fast as on our Quad G5, but it's still pretty fast.

HOWEVER, I would recommend that you wait until Intel releases their new chip (about a month or two). I'm sure Apple will start putting them in the Pro line as soon as possible.
