Great story!

Thanks all. Last night they projected spot lights from the sight as they have done each year at this time since the collapse. From here I could see two columns of light and as they shone into the clouds above it really made me feel like there was a heaven above.

I was a temporarily credentialed photographer: see the story elsewhere.

I shot this one from ground level in what is called "the hole." There is also one behind Roddick to the left of the photo. It's a window from which a TV cameraman sits and there is another window assigned to photographers for the event.
Every once in a while a ball would bounce in at high speed. One did hit me squarely in the lens. The glass survived. The ball boys took the ball back.

I have many shots of autumn foliage like the one that you took. Mine lie in the drawer and not on display.
Your picture is very nice in terms of the colors and the sun shining through the yellow leaves with a blue sky background. What the photo lacks is a center of interest? Where does the eye look and what draws you into the picture? If there was single leaf of another color, it would focus the viewer into the picture. Or, if you took a picture of your companion framed against this backdrop with a hint of fill flash, it would have been of more interest.
You had a great venue to get pictures, look a little bit more before you press the shutter.
Good luck.

The clearest blue sky on an otherwise clear crisp autumn day. Five
years and it's like yesterday. The movies are really not necessary to
remember this one. Low res so I don't know how the sky will upload.
It's obviously not manipulated.

The 60th Annual Shinnecock Indian Powwow. I got there on Monday,
Labor Day, the only day of the weekend that I think it didn't rain.
My first submission. Thanks.

Did you try it with the camera tilted the other way? It makes a big difference sometimes. This one is a little disconcerting. Great color. When I tilt now, I do it in each direction and it's often only one way that the tilt framing works.
