I am pretty sure that when using the custom WB you can not see what temp you are at. It would be nice if the temp was displayed, but there is no way to tell except when post processing.

A D2H works great for IR. The D200 does not. See Bjorn Rorslett's site about IR:

No problems here. I just make sure the film leader doesn't go past the red mark.

Lex, You stated that Nikon makes the 8-400mm f/2.8D AF-S VR Nikkor, but I don't see it at B&H. How does yours perform? I want to sell all my lenses and get just this one. Thanks for the advice.

I use the 105 1.8 AIS and it is an excellent piece of glass.

The decision seems easy to me.
You already own the 35-70 and 80-200. So if you get the 12-24 you have all focal lengths covered from 12-200. I would think that for interiors you could use the wideness of the 12-24.

The cat needs more jewelry.

Uhhh Walter, I believe she tried several readers already.
Anne did you try a different USB connection on your PC?

As of today I will stop using the Nikon Transfer software. I will use my PC's internal card reader and let the Windows OS copy the files. I really don't understand why Nikon Transfer doesn't work for me as it worked flawless with my D2H. I tried to format the cards on the PC, format in camera, take some pictures, delete a few, and the Nikon process failed again. It failed with 3 different cards.
Thanks for the advice everyone.

Thanks for the response Joe. My problem occurs with less than a half full card. I also tried to transfer on my Laptop and got the same issue. Hmmmmmm.

It all depends on the shutter speed at the time. A higher shutter speed will get more FPS than a slower shutter speed.

I have had my D200 for 2 weeks and when transferring images from the
cf card to PC I sometimes get an error and the transfer terminates.
The error is "An Unexpected Error Occurred. Transfer Failed. Try
Again" - Nikon Capture Transfer Software.
I'm using 2 SanDisk Ultra II 1 GB cards and both have done the same
thing. The cards have been formatted in the camera. These cards worked
perfectly with my now sold D2H. I don't think the cards are the issue
here.
If none of the images on the card are deleted in camera, the transfer
works fine. If I delete a few photos in camera and shoot some more,
then maybe delete a previous photo, shoot some more - I then have a
problem. It seems like the transfer process is fine up until I get to
the first deleted photo, then it dies.
All the photos are viewable in camera. I can pull the photos directly
off the cards using Capture. The camera USB setting is PTP.
It would seem that either the D200 isn't putting markers correctly on
the cards or Nikon Transfer has an issue. Anyone else having problems?

Thanks everyone. It was the custom function d5. All is well now.

I just received a D200 and I think there may be a problem. When I take
a shot there is a long lag between when the mirror flips up and the
shutter fires. For instance, I have a meter reading of 1/8000 using
aperture priority at f1.8 - it takes about one whole second for the
mirror to flip up, shutter fire and mirror flip down. Also when I set
the dial to Continuous High speed and my meter reads 1/8000 it takes
about 4 seconds to fire 5 frames. This is not anywhere near the
published 5fps. This thing feels sluggish. Could someone tell me if I
missed a setting somewhere or if their camera performs the same.
I used to own a D2H and that camera could rip through some frames. I
know the D200 is slower, but it should be faster than described above.

Why get a 50mm when you have a 60mm? What is that, one step difference using your feet?
