Tony, so you dont like their choice of music or any music? Just curious as many sites have music in the background.

MPIX, Bay Photo, WHCC, are all great and affordable. Skip Sams or Wal Mart etc. as they use very thin crappy paper and not what a client would expect from a professional. Personal snap shots, fine, just not paid work.

Just bought a 400 to replace a JTL 200 and it is great. I can always buy more if I need it but I had plenty of portrait light with the JTL 200, so the 400 was more than enough

Thats an idea, thank you.

for magazine. I agreed to give photos from event for free advertising in magazine and web site. Does anyone have a
sample form I could look at to release all photos from a CD to the magazine in return for photo credits in mag?

Your web site looks great. You definately dont charge enough for prints unless you are getting them for free. I use the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 macro for a majority of wedding shots with a SB-800 and a good diffuser and I love the results. Lens is about 400 and the flash 300. Ill post a shot to let you see if you like it .

Sharpest Lens I own. I am constantly amazed by the color and sharpness in my portraits. Of course I dont photograph news print at 3 inches, so that could be a problem, I dont know.

I just did switch to the D300 from the D200. I never complained about the 200 and never will, it is a beast that has served me well and will continue to (as a back up). The extra frame per second actually makes a difference in sports shots, also the images are basically ready out of the camera. I used to adjust most of my D200 shots with contrast and exposure before saving. With the D300, I look at them and say"looks good to me" and move on. High ISO is a nice bonus as well. You still have to be careful not to trust it too much or let it get too high, because the camera is not a miracle worker. Finally, I wont shoot much anymore with the 200 because the 300 is clearly better. Jim

I opened in capture NX which I did not have until purchasing the 300. I used a D200 and PS CS2 which I never saw the settings of JPG convert to the NEF shot. I was getting really vivid NEF shots just as I had set in JPG. I can obvioulsy desaturate as needed though, so it works out OK I guess.
-
I didnt really want the pumped up saturation as I was shooting a couples engagement photos. I assumed that switching back to NEF would cancel any in camera JPG settings, but I saw that my NEF images were very vivid. I will say though, in other cameras such as the D200, a pumped up saturation in camera would make the photos look almost cartoonish. But on the 300, they were still beautiful, just not what I was expecting to see. I also have noticed that usually the images are ready to go out of camera with most not needing any adjustments such as exposure or contrast. That is a GREAT benefit of this camera and I am loving it more and more every day.

Vivid and pump it up, does that setting also transfer to NEF if I switch over?
I just assumed all in camera settings would be void once the setting was
changed to NEF. Thank you.

I had a setting done for the on camera flash and I didnt realize it would transfer to the SB800-600. I cleared it and it works fine. Thanks
-
Im sure it has its benefits, bit I want it to flash when I want it to flash.

Fantastic shots. Thank you! What lens were you using with these shots if you remember.

Fantastic shots. Thank you!

Thanks, just looking to see how it may handle the white dress and black suit as well as how it may handle highlights outside such as the dress.

Would someone mind posting some or adding a link for me. As much info about the shot
would be appreciated. THanks

try the Sigma 18-50f2.8 macro. I use in studio and sharpness is great.
-
Can you explain what is happening when it "front Focuses". Sorry if a stupid question. Maybe all mine do it and I didnt notice. Is it really noticible?
-
Thanks, I just needed to know if CS2 would come up with a plug in like they did with my D200. It looks like its going to cost me another 200.00 on top of the camera price unless I want to convert with the Nikon software then go to CS2.
-
open RAW in CS2 or will I need to upgrade to CS3? Any help appreciated as I am
just a couple days from getting the D300. Thanks
-
It runs about 400.00 and is very sharp. The Macro is not a true 1-1 but I have shot some awesome wedding day macros that turned out great. Well worth it.

D80 vs D300
in Nikon
Who cares about side by side tests. If the camera suits your needs and you are thrilled with your images as I am, keep your camera. I had a D70 and upgraded to D200. I now hate the D70 becasue the 200 just flows better and faster. It is much easier to use and so much faster from Frames and adjustments. I will buy a d300 because I need better ISO performance in low light situations. I have seen great images with a D70 and have taken plenty. Just for me, it is now like a toy in my hands and the D200 is a powerful tool. Just My opinion. -
I have been a trial member here for a while and I see a huge difference in the
ratings and critiques between this site and photosig. PS really gets after you
to tell you what you made a mistake with and how to improve the shot. On this
site, basicaly everyone is slapping eachother on the back for average and even
poor shots. This is not to say that the photography on this site is not
phenominal. I have seen some amazing photography here. I was just wondering if
the crits here are meant to help you improve, or just a Blog type set up to
tell eachother you like their work. I rarely if ever see someone say, "This is
not good, you need to try again."
No right or wrong here, just curious.
Thanks
