  1. Hi Denis, To me you have achieved a fine portrait here. Besides the model being quite attractive, you added a fine pose, caught a great expression, created excellent composition and finished with very nice color values especially with her skin tones. I just discovered you and will be watching you for more work like this one.

  2. Thank you Roy!, for your insight and especially for taking the time to look at my portfolio.

I will experiment with you suggestion regarding more muted garments and accessories. Variety certainly is good and helps develop diversity in one's work. I appreciate the time you gave to share your thoughts also.

I really like this image. To me this is a really nice capture of a beautiful woman and her skin tones are beautiful. If this shot were mine I probably would have smoothed out the wrinkles in the red sheet with "Gaissian Blur" as they are somewhat distracting to me. However this is certainly based on my personal taste and others might disagree.

Your image here caught my attention. I went right to you site and found many beautiful images of lovely models. To me regarding this image I overall agree with the first critique given, however, while in your site, I slightly prefer # 1 of the 4 in this serious. The contrast is better in # 1, in my view, and I would like to have seen # 1 in motion as well. However, either way, I find your work as a treasure being created

  3. Hi Doug. Pouting? - That is an interesting observation. This image has never struck me that way back then or sense then. First, I should say that when I asked Stacey if she would like to model, I might as well have asked her if she would like to be the U.S. Ambassador to England. Apparently such a thought of modeling had never crossed her mind, however the idea grew on her and she became interested.

It has never occurred to me that Stacey was in a pout and I don’t believe she was. This was her first time to pose for anybody, as mentioned above, and I think she was just trying very hard to please at this point in the shoot. There was another photographer beside myself and she possibly was getting a little stressed at this point trying to please both of us - two strangers with cameras. Overall this one chance to work with her proved to be one of the most productive shoots for me ever.

Soon after the shoot she disappeared back into rural Oklahoma from which she came. However, she did leave behind a treasure for me to enjoy for years to come.

Interestingly around three years ago I posted an image of Miss Stacey titled "On a Paris Eve" on photo.net and in just 10 months it ran up 220,000 hits. That astonished me. I pulled the image over a year ago and have regretted that decision. I ended up listing the same image again hoping to draw people to my site and again it has work well for me. You can find it under nudes on my photo.net site if you would like to see her in our most successful of all her images.

  4. Your images are so crisp and at the same time so smooth. All are absolutely beautiful. Also a really nice touch with the roses in this one. Many images are also erotic while so tastefully created.
  5. Commonly know as Ronnie James Dio. I felt that this image could be used as a tribute to Mr. Padavona. The blue kimono afforded an opportunity to create a rainbow effect for "Rainbow in the Dark", a huge hit for Dio. My little model had never modeled before, but she took direction quite well and provided me with one of my most productive photo shoots ever. I'm not sure how this image will be received but your comments and critiques are always welcome.
  6. Thank You! Gary for your input. I chose to go against the conventional thinking on this image. I did have a friend with gold and silver bounce cards standing by. I had just finished with a few shots using one or the other card. The light and shadow patterns were also interesting so I let nature have her way with this shot. I appreciate your kind remark regarding my work. I have an awful lot of work (old and new) to eventually load on photo.net. So kindly keep watching and I will try to make it interesting. Best Regards, Ben
  7. Your positive reactions are very encouraging and I do appreciate your notice of my work. I have a lot of old work to share as I am converting old film to digital. I shoot only digital now. The photo image above from 2004 was actually digital as my transition was beginning to take place. However, that camera was far less up-to-speed compared to my simple Canon Digital Rebel I use now.
  8. Jerry, thank you for your input. Chelsea was and is a dreamer. She wanted more of her life than she felt like she had. The makeup was all hers and to her it made her glamorous and to me it did achieve that as well. Usually I will photograph my model the way they are unless something about their look really bothers me. I photographed Chelsea for about four years back in the late 90s thru 2001. Now her arm that you see is completely covered with tattoos. I am thinking of photographing her again as her enthusiasm was so enjoyable and she will certainly have a different look. I know that the colors are to the point of being too garish for some folks taste however I happen to favor the rich colors. I do take your point well and I probably should mix in some images with more muted colors for a better-balanced portfolio. By the way this 1998 shot was of Chelsea was when she was 19 years old. I have been converting old film to digital and have very much enjoyed bringing back some of these images to life.
  9. When I first looked at this image the turbulent blues reminded me of

my 1960s college professor and one of his works. It was a color stone

litho titled - "The Sargasso Sea". I really admired that image and

the name burned its way into my memory.

  10. Hi Edgar, that is a good and fair question.

My intent in relisting was to try and rejuvenate interest in my portfolio. Last June I nearly deleted everything from my portfolio down from over 100 images to just a few. Six months later I began listing new images and soon realize I wasnt capturing very many viewers. This was when I first considered putting Eve back on and having her critiqued again. Was I taking a risk and would On a Paris Eve again be popular or was the past success just a fluke?

Well, I can?t express how surprised I was to find out she was doing better than before and my real gain, and what I was hoping for, was the number of hits coming in across the board with my other portfolio images. In other words Eve had enough appeal to create a desire with viewers to open my portfolio and peruse my other images.

In the future I will strive to create images that can equal or exceed EVE or, at least, that is my hope. That will be a real challenge and is also part of the enjoyment of photography i.e. the growing/improving as an artist through photography as my tool.

I perused you portfolio as well and I find that you are diffently an artist.

You have a quite a unique style, quite dreamy and imaginative. I hope that you keep posting. Sincerely, Ben

  11. A Sincere Thank You Everyone!!, for your comments. I am pleased that this image (On a Paris Eve) was overall a success for me and that many other photographers enjoyed viewing her. I am striving to create images that resonate with my photo.net worldwide audience.

Because of so much talent on this site it is a real challenge to even get noticed.

The two comments regarding the soft focus on Jade?s right arm confirms my thoughts as well. I had considered sharpening this area. I should have gone with my instincts. Now my big challenge is to at least try and equal this image with another. Again Thank You? all for taking your time to respond to (On a Paris Eve).
