ACR now supports distortion correction for the s90.

-

Thanks for the feedback. And Marc you're right about the price of equipment these days. If cameras were a bit cheaper I could afford 2 cameras of equal capability. Then the choice of using 1 or 2 cameras is an easier decision to make. :-)

No, I kinda thought it was too risky to leave in the car Nadine. I like the idea of the capped backup body. That would work well with the Upstrap shoulder straps I use. I could wear it very comfortably. Thanks for the feedback guys.

-

Haha - good point William! I guess I've been toying with the idea of switching to just one camera, rather than 2 cameras (a prime on each).
Especially as the 5D II is the better camera against the 5D (my second camera). The live view mode and silent shooting at the ceremony is particularly welcome. And the higher ISO quality amongst other improvements.
I agree with Nadine about not leaving gear unattended - unless locked and out of sight in the car.

Just wondering where people tend to keep their backup camera at a wedding.
Locked away in the car? Always with you over shoulder or in camera bag? Or perhaps it depends on location - ceremony, reception - and how far away the car is parked and how fast you can run!

-

Antonio, yes it can be read with PS. But it's a beta update for the camera so the distortion issue is not currently corrected. It will with later updates I'm sure.

-

Eric, the Canon S90 has distortion correction built-in. The information is saved to the RAW file - but only the supplied Digital Photo Professional software currently reads it.

Loud shutter? No flash allowed - but your shutter is too loud. Oh please, when will people that take wedding ceremonies realise that the bride and groom and their special day (and the recording of said event) are the most important. Last wedding I took the baby crying was far more distracting.
-
Too late for me anyway - spend my cash on lenses instead.
-
Bought the 50 f1.2 L. Nice focal length and very very fast.
-
Totally agree Brian, the 85 f1.2 L II is a wonderful lens. I'm lucky to own it, the 35 f1.4 L and the 135 f2 L (plus the 16-
35 f2.8 L II) , and yes building a prime collection as I love the shallow depth of field look and low light performance.
The 50 f1.2 L and 24 f1.4 are possible next purchases. Ofcourse the 24 has just been updated and yet to be
reviewed (and very expensive too!)
-
I just wonder, because I used to own the 50 f1.4 and wasn't too impressed with the colour quality and CA. Nearest lens I currently own in that focal length is the 35 f1.4 L, which is excellent.
-
Anybody that has it, what do you think of it? How does it compare in your opinion to the straight 1.4 version?
-
Never used one - just a tripod. Are they really that good? You only have 1 leg ofcourse, lol. Any tips for using one?
-
Thanks guys, a combination of possible problems there. The lens did seem very cold, I cleaned the contacts and no luck. I used it when it was warmer - still no luck. But resetting the battery did the trick!
-
My 16-35 f2.8 L II has seemed to developed a fault. The f-stop shows as 00 and error 1 and no picture when the
shutter is pressed. I've cleaned the contacts, anything specific to try - or just send it back?
-
by my local camera shop.
-
I was told first week in November.
-
Just bought the 85 1.2 L II. Thanks for the feedback Marc, so you try and avoid focus and re-frame?
-
Not much point having the extra stop if you struggle to focus in dim light David. ;-)
-
Well David (Wegwart), that is my concern. I guess I have been spoiled with the 1D's speed at auto focus in any light and don't want any nasty surprises in dim lighting. Interesting you didn't find any real difference between the 2 lenses on a 5D. Thank you.
-
Well I like a bit more distance for portraits (111 equivalent seems good on the 1D). Any focusing issues in low light or when things get hectic?
-
Just wondering how people got on with this lens at a wedding - any problems? I currently own the standard f1.8
which is much faster at focusing. I want to pair this with the 35 f1.4 L which is super sharp at f2. I'm using a 1D III.
