Todd and Aaron, thanks for your feedback. I lightened the load of ads on the mainpage.

I'm trying to find the proper balance between an attractive presentation and a
profitable business on DMO
Galleries, my photography website. Do you think the inclusion of ads at
the bottom of the pages distracts too much from the appearance? Thank you for
your input.

Hi Jeff. I opened DMO Galleries online using the Yahoo! small business interface. You can build your site on their platform, and they take care of the shopping carts and sales tax calculations and all that stuff. I find it to be very easy, and it's relatively cheap.
I don't keep stock either--it's a pretty big capital investment to spend the money to have inventory sitting around if you're not sure when/if it will sell. I've never had any complaints about turnaround time having the photos processed after they are ordered and shipping them to the customer.
Best of luck!

Jeannie--that's funny. I just tried it and it worked for me.

I recently have started DMO
Galleries, an online gallery selling Chicago-based photos I have taken.
So far, I have made some sales and gotten some nice feedback, but I would like
to draw more paying customers to my site.
I'm doing banner ads through Google and Yahoo and I'm telling everyone I can
about the site through email and word of mouth. Does anyone have any good
ideas of what more I should be doing to draw customers?
I appreciate your insight!
Doug
