  1. Quote : "What problems are those? The few I have seen posted here could well be user errors. Before posting a "problem" it would be wise to use the camera for a month, ck with the manufacturer first and then, if not resolved it can be classified as a problem that needs solving."

Answer : It is difficult to use a camera for a month, if after 2 days the gear blocks totally. Let me tell you, I'm not a ghost on the internet, I'm a real user, having had 3 Canon's before. The err99 is quite real and tangible.

No user error involved, unless my experience is letting me down completely.

My camera is back to Canon, and I'm waiting for a new shipment.

It also happened to a friend of mine, and he went to Canon repair, where they also noticed the problem. They couldn't however explain what the source was.

  2. Beau,

I think it is more than an anecdote...I have heard from at least one other user of the MkIII that she started having problems after using the 70-200 2.8 IS.

I will have this evening a replacement 1DII from Canon. I'm eager to test it out on this one.

    kind regards,

  3. The camera was indeed turned off.

My 70-200 2.8 works perfectly with my D60 and 10D, though from time to time an err00 message is displayed, solved quickly by turning the camera on and off.

I had not tried to see whether the camera kept functioning without a lens attached.

  4. I was lucky to receive last Wednesday the Canon 1D MkIII. During two days, I

could enjoy this great camera, a marvelous gear !

Then, after two days, I switched lenses from the 28-70 2.8 to the 70-200 2.8 L

    IS, and bang...err99.

I have tried every trick in the book when one is confronted with such an error

message. I then tried to use the 17-40 f4...same problem. I put on again the

28-70 that worked flawlessly during 2 days...the error message kept showing. I

was not able to take more than 1 shot with it.

I finally returned the camera, and I'm again on the waiting list for a new one.

Meanwhile CPS promised me a replacement camera (older 1D) to bridge the waiting

    period.

I have heard of at least 4 other cameras having the same problem. Two of them

have sent him for repair. I'm waiting for news about what could have caused the

    problem.

Do any of you have had bad experience with this camera?
