1.
Mike, images are fine when downloaded. LV works fine as well.
The more I am thinking about it, the more I feel that it might be a firmware issue- in creating thumbnail previews.
And cannot stop wondering whether going back to older version of firmware may be help...?

  2.
I have searched for posts that would refer to issue like what I am having with my D300, but could not find any. So I decided to ask.
I have been using my D300 for about four years with no problems.
And recently while previewing photos on the back screen I am having this strange issue, where files are showing grayed out and showing just outlines of subjects from the photo viewed.
Below is picture showing view of 3 thumbnails, but it happens to show me files this way while on 1 thumbnail preview or histogram preview. And just to be more clear- the same file will show fine on full screen preview and than change to this grayish view while on instagram or multi-thumbnail view.
Link to photo: https://twitter.com/JoannasFoto/status/280759259011092480/photo/1

Here is link to a video showing how it looks like while scrolling through images: http://youtu.be/5PPyKr79gsI
At first I thought it was card issue, so I have formatted my card, than used different one. I've changed batteries. Used various lenses. My firmware is up to date wccording to what's posted on Nikon's site.
Not sure what else could be done on my end?
I will truly appreciate if anyone had seen something like this and knows maybe what this problem may mean? I can always try to have it looked at by Nikon's service, but was hoping to get opinion from someone who dealt with something like that.

  3.
Hi Mart,
I've had dead pixel on my D90, but decided not to wait.
Send it to Nikon and the camera was back within a week- without the problem.
Sure it's easy to edit out, but I didn't want this to get worse? Who knows? And now- Nikon has record of something like this happening.
Since your camera is still under warranty I would take advantage of it.
Cheers!
4.
this thread is so right for me too! I will be doing my first craft show in two weeks. Thank you for sharing great tips!
Jennifer, good luck with your first show! I am new to this as well, but I will try to have fun.
Since I am in the middle of preparations to this show, I just wanted to share some of my ideas.
First- most of pieces for sale are matted to 8x10. I think it's one of the most common sizes for most people and it will allow me to keep the pricing within $20.
I will have about 4 or 5 actually framed photographs and maybe 4 larger matted prints (16x10 with11x14 print in the mat))
I have decided to print some photo cards- and used the Museo Artist Cards, which are really nice for photographs- great paper quality and love the color reproduction.
Another thing I am planning to do is to take my laptop with me (my show is indoors, so hope for outlet close to my spot) and I want to make slide show with my photographs. This way I can offer portfolio for viewing.
I hope I don't forget something really important... but so far I am making my list and checking it twice!
5.
I have recently set up account on zenfolio, as well. http://joannakapicaphotography.zenfolio.com/ So far I like it. I do fine art photography and needed site with all e-commerce set up.
I have also used MPix to print in the past (that's who zenfolio is using for prints) and liked their quality. They also can ship your order directly to customer- if needed.
So far I am satisfied.

  6.
You can use some of those labels, e.g. avery, and print your name, title of print, website, copyright info (choice is yours) and place it on the back.
Another option- you can print your photographs, by leaving extra wide border (you would have to actually do it at home and than save to standard size, that Target prints) and than you can sign on that wide border, just under the photograph.
Just suggestions.
7.
Shuo,
friend of mine ordered that lens from Ritz Camera (local store- not online). They told her it's out of stock, but they fullfilled her order in about a week. So they may be getting small batched from Nikon, as the orders are placed, I guess. And at the $199.99 price.

  8.
And, without going into technical info on how complicated this camera is- people are very quick about complaining about something and blaming camera- when very often it's just user lack of knowledge- that actually leaving positive opinions about it.
I think that's just human nature.

  9. I don't think so. Unless you remove it in Photoshop or software with similar editing capabilities.

For future- just change in the menu so the camera doesn't "print" date on pictures.

  10. Do you want point and shoot to have very slim design but 3x-5x zoom? Than maybe something like Nikon S550? Or do you want to have a little bit more zoom than that- Sony H10, Panasonic TZ4, Nikon P80...

I just mentioned random models, because there is no one perfect model that fits all- and I really don't know what you're looking for.
