  1. I just ordered Gary Fong's lightspere starter set. I am tired of dealing with

uneven lighting in dim situations and wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the

    money on a bracket.

Did I make the right choice? Do you really need a bracket or can you get away

    with a lightsphere?

    Opinions, please!

  2. I currently do not use a bracket and keep my SB800 on top of my D200. I

occasionally do have flash issues with uneven lighting. I usually try to

bounce my flash as often as I can.

I am thinking a bracket might help me out with this. I just don't know what to

    get for my SB800.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Kristen

  3. I design my own layouts in PS and am looking for a great publisher to print &

bind my "coffee table books". Can anyone recommend one that is reasonable in

price? Specially one that can print 10x10.

    Thanks!

  4. Definitely need a website!

I was lucky, was able to design my own. I did 4 weddings my first year (3 of which were unpaid). Just did it to build my portfolio and get the practice.

I found two websites that advertise for free by state... www.onewed.com and www.wedalert.com. No cost! 4 more brides found me there and one was on the knot.

Needless to say, she loved me and shared the news. I went from 4 weddings my first year to 17 weddings my second year. Word of mouth and free advertising the best.

The most important thing they loved....I had a website which viewed my galleries and listed my prices.

  5. Actually they were "out of focus" not blurry.

    1. I was shooting at 200 ISO

    2. I was shooting automatic so don't know exact shutter speed

    3. Fixed on center focus point using dynamic and the Aperture was 2.8

I have to be pretty quick at some shots so I don't quite trust myself to do manual focus at times.

I always thought if I focused on one person and moved the camera over to re-frame the shot the focus would change or only the one person would be in focus.

  6. Please help me understand this.

    I just bought a AF-S Zoom Nikkor 28-70mm f/2.8D ED-IF Autofocus Lens for my

D70. I was shooting a wedding and a few of my shots didn't focus on the two

people up front, but an opening between the two people way past them. So of

course my main subject was blurry.

I don't know if this has to do with me not being used to the fast lens or the

auto focus I was using. I had it on dynamic focus. I just found it surprizing

that a with a fast lens I had blurry shots.

Please help me understand it it's my auto focus settings or something else.

  7. Right now I shoot weddings with a D70s and my basic lens (18-70) and (70-300).

I'm thinking of upgrading to the new D80. But I'm torn because I really like

this lens 28-70 (F 2.8). Which is a lot of money.

I just don't know which will enhance my photos more. Upgrading to the higher

pixel camera or keep shooting with the D70s and buy the lens.

    Need some opinions please!

  8. I could use some help with this. I had a SB600 speedlight on my

NIKON D70 and I had it set on TTL (auto). I also had a diffuser cap

on it to try and soften the flash. I had my flash set at a 45 degree

    angle.

I had constant shadows on all my photos! What can I do to avoid

that? I bought a Lumiquest softener to put on my flash ( 80-20 )

specifically for weddings, but I'm nervous to use it.

  9. Thanks for all the insight.

I plan on going to the rehearsal on Friday night to check everything out, I will speak with the

    minister then.

I will definitely go by what he and the B&G wish. I don't want to be one of those obnoxious

photographers that everyone dreads to work with.

  10. I need help with this one. I've seen photographers right in the main

aisle snapping away only a few pews away from the B&G, and I've seen

    others behind the last pew.

What is the proper etiquette? I would feel uncomfortable in the main

    aisle.

This is what I was thinking...

I shoot with two NIKON D70s, I was thinking of setting one up on a

tripod in the back with a 70-300 mm lens. And the other I was going

to keep with me where I would stand on the side of the church at

times (or wherever the action was).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I saw one crunched

down in the middle of the aisle by the third pew, practically sitting

    next to the bride's father.

    Thanks!

  11. I have a bride inquiring about a digital harback wedding album. I

have never done one of these. I've heard of magazine style, coffee

table and hardback. Are they all the same?

And does anyone know of any resources where I can look into having

    these created?
