    Patrick,

I like the use of side lighting in this photo. It addes life to the models and makes them appear more lively. The pose is also an interesting one. Maybe watch the hand placement of the guy. They look like they weren't placed but just kind of landed where they are. Everyone has a different opinion but one thing I would try is placing his left hand up on his leg so that it is further away from his body and in a more natural place and bring his right hand closer to his body. This would look more natural and it brings the hands on the same plane as the face and eyes making them appear to be smaller. I love this area at Oak Island. This is one of my favorite places to take portraits, especially when the sun is getting low in the sky. Remember to look through your viewfinder when framing a shot and look for distracting elements such as the bridge. With a slightly higher vantage point and a little tighter framing this probably could have been eliminated. I hope these tips are helpful. Best Regards.

  1. Unique! The composition is very good with one minor detail... the horizon is not balanced. A slight photoshop correction would fix this. Otherwise I like that nothing is right in the center of the frame, and the triangle that the birds form. To me it helps convey a feeling of confidence. Well done.
  2. Beautiful Picture Pat! Beautiful colors, and subject matter! It almost tells a story. This pictures proves that a good image is 99% the photgrapher and 1% the camera. The flare is a little distracting and the horizon is not straight. I'm being picky, but a little correction in photoshop would help make this even better.

Very beautiful picture! I love the well saturated colors and the overall mood. It's very comforting, like a cool fall morning. The only improvement I would make would be regarding the trees. This is where my eye is lead to because it is the area with the brightest color and coolest tones. With a little lower perspective or a slightly wider angle you could bring more of them into the shot intensifying the mood. Great shot!!

I was fooling around in the studio a while back and took this

picture. I tried adding a few effects with photoshop with the goal

of drawing the viewers attention directly into the model's eyes by

using high sharpening at the eyes, mostly washed out detail in the

face, and various photoshop filters around the edge. The client

seemed to like it as she bought several prints, however I would like

some opinions from other photographers on what could be done

    differently.

This picture has strong compositional aspects. However, the subject is a common symbol, therefore the picture seems to lack originality. My suggestion would be to think outside the box a little bit to make it a little more unique. If it were me I would add a point of interest in the reflection on the mustang symbol. A real horse? pair of cowboy boots? lasso? another car? the Ford Mustang's rival the Chevy Camaro? etc.... Experiment a little, I would be interested in seeing follow-up pictures.

Vivid colors, I like the contrast between the foreground and the background, both in the colors and shallow depth of field. It seems a little soft, could maybe use just a touch of sharpening IMO. Beautiful!

Let me know what you think! Also please check out the black and

white version in my portfolio. Your thoughts on both are

    appreciated!
