This is a very fine image, extremely well composed with all the elements of a simple but compelling landscape photograph: excellent light, balanced colors and, it's worth repeating, nicely composed. Thanks for sharing.

This is a killer shot. In regard to the "nostrils" comment by Todd, I also noticed it but in the end decided that the sort of staircase effect of the three heads/noses as presented looks even better.

That's a very generous comment. These school kids were swarming like bees around me - once they realized they could have their photo taken and see the outcome on the spot. I tried to be inconspicuous, to no avail. Thanks again.

I used a polarizer to darken the sky and enhance the contrast in the clouds. Unfortunately, lot of detail got lost because I stupidly forgot to compensate the exposure for the polarizer, which absorbs almost 2 stops. Luckily I bracketed the exposures so I could rescue this image. I like the enhanced contrast due to the underexposure so not harm was done in the end. Thanks all.

This is a picture of the edge of one of those smelly sulfur pools in Yellowstone. The intense colors are due to algae, if I remember correctly.

"... from Koert's inimitable collection of alcoholic souvenirs that (somehow or other) fell off the back of a truck in his store's loading bay.
Unfortunately the mighty Subaru's starter motor decided to fail just as we were about to hit the real desert at a place called the Cameron Corner Pub..."
The typical case of the drunken Subaru. I wonder when the Japanese are going to fix that. They are pretty reliable otherwise, you know? (I mean Subaru's)

Excellent shot! (And funny how similar in concept to this THIRD picture, also taken on a camping trip.)

The birds in the shadow are from another chime which is out of the
picture. No PS involved other than channel mixing and levels.

Plase critique.
