Chipped lens element in Medium Format Posted August 25, 2006 I am interested in buying an old Distagon 50 mm wide angle lens for my Hasselblad, and I have located one which is in very good shape except for a good size (~2mm wide)chip about 2/3 of the way out from the center of the rear element. I have some very useful UV-curable cement which I use for cementing glass watch crystals and doing repairs in glass items, as it has the same index of refraction as crystal glass, and effectively disappears. I see three possible things I can do about the chip: - live with it, and the flare it will cause - fill it with black paint, eliminating the flare - fill it in with the UV-curable cement, but I will not be able to get the right curvature, so this should cause some out of focus imaging at the film plane Which would be the best way to go? Thanks, John Desmond
Konica Pearl IV in Classic Manual Film Cameras Posted April 25, 2006 Does anyone know of one of these delightful old folders for sale? I have a Pearl II, and really enjoy it, but I have always wanted to find a Pearl IV. Thanks, John Desmond<div></div>
