  1. Hey all, I'll start by saying that on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the

    best) in pscs2 knowlage, I am a 4 or a 5 on a good day. That said, I

was reading "The photoshop cs2 book for digital photographers" by

Scott Kelby...He walks you thru stuff step by step...he talks about

skin softening that I did and liked it alot, so I dcided to try to

make an action out of it....I recorded every step up untill the last

one when you choose the brush tool to go over the eyes, lips,

hair...etc...figured that had to be done on a per pic basis. I

assigned the action to the f11 key.

Now the issue, I opened a photo and hit the f11 key and it did blur

the pic, I then choose the brush tool to sharpen the eyes and such

and, it did nothing...so...I closed the pic, opened it again and the

brush tool worked fine for sharpening the eyes and such. The action

works just fine if I open a pic I want to work on twice, it will

never do it on the first try, only when I close it and open it up

    again.

    Whats up with that?

  2. At the church, ISO 250 f/5.6 (99% of the time) with ss speed set to mix ambient with my off camera flash guns, usually about 1/20 or slower if the church is a dark one. At the reception, ISO 250 f/5.6 (99% of the time) with ss at 1/60 or 1/80 to mix ambient with the flash guns. I always use a meter, the histogram is nice in a pinch but a meter is a must IMHO http://www.delormephoto.com/wedmain.htm have a look.

Outdoors is metered and the flash is set to about 1/10 higher to the ambient for direction and catch lights. The flash is always off camera, and not on a bracket above the camera either...to me that still gives flat lighting.

  3. What I like (need) about the Multis is that you can control each light on it's own from the point of the camera. I use anywhere from 4-6 sunpak 555's flash heads at a wedding/reception and sometimes I need to turn one off or on from the camera, depending on where I'm standing at the time. Cant do that with the pluses.

  4. Terry, I would like to suggest that whatever you choose, try to save for the lens you want, bodies come and go, glass lasts. Alot of folks (me included) tried to scimp on lenses to save a few bucks only to cost us more in the long run. If money is an issue, may I suggest a Canon 28-135 IS USM f/3.5-5.6 for starters. IMHO this is one of Canons best non L zoom lenses. I still have and use mine. Also this way you can see what you lack by using it, or see what range you shoot mostly with this lens and go from there.

    Good luck, George

  5. Hey all, now that the 24-105 f/4 has been out for awhile and the

recall thing is a few months gone now I ask this of those who

    have/has used/uses both.

I have seen photos from two different 24-105's over the last couple

of weeks that I thought were rather soft at f/4 and just a tad

better at f/5.6, the pics were at all different focal lengths and

used on a tripod with a cable release. I thought they were soft

throughout the entire pics not just at the edges. I have not had

side by side pics from the 24-70 to compare it to so I ask this of

    those that do/have.

I read alot of reviews and seem to get a mixed bag of results on the

    24-105.

So, those using a FF digital Canon that have/has used the two

lenses, which would/do you use more often. This is geared to the

    wedding, portrait, event shooters.

I'm sure this has been asked but I did do a search and went back a

bit and did not see it, if I missed it and am being redundant here,

    thanks for your patience.
