  1. I realize that others have already said that they had an easy time & that many have blogs on pictures at Disneyland & Disneyworld. But we recently did our first engagement session at Disneyland (in September) and we had no issues & we had a total blast doing it. I hope we can do lots more. They checked our equipment at the security gates and said nothing (I think we had 5 lenses & two professional Canon cameras). I just wanted to share that we had a positive experience. Here's the link to our blog posting on it: http://journal.solorzanophotography.com/2008/09/23/the-happiest-place-on-earth/
  2. My wife devotes a blog for brides for wedding planning tips and ideas.

<br>It really helps drive traffic to your site. The trick is to have links from the blog to specific pages on your web site. For example my wife has a blog about wedding albums and then a link to our website showing layout designs. Not only does it help the bride with some usefull information, but it will help your website rankings. Heck, who knows, maybe this entry will even help out my rankings.

The only real difficult thing in having a blog, is coming up with new content for it. But like other things, spread it out. Don't just jam everything one week into your blog. You will run out of stuff to blog about. Make it a regular habit and input your information weekly. By doing so, search engines will pick up on that and crawl your website more frequently because your constantly adding new content.

  3. I've had the 458B for about a year I still love it. The whole grease complaints are ridiculous. Brand new it did have a little grease over the retracting legs but it only lasted a few weeks. The autolock legs are awsome. Absolutely no reason to be skeptical. They really work as adverstised. Shooting weddings and portraits on location, this tripod is a must. Very easy to set up and easier to put away.

I use the 322RC2 pistol grip head with the 458B and they have proven to be a great combo with my DSLR. Even with heavier telephotos it proves very stable. I don't shoot LF, but I hope this helps.

  4. I just a Sekonic L-358 for my Alien Bees. It works great. It has the option for radio triggering. Something I am definatly going to get.

Since your doing pet portraits, you might as well get the wireless Sekonic 558. You can't really tell a dog to watch out for wires.

So if your on a budget, the L358, ,if you can afford it, the L-558.

Sekonic has a free DVD that they can mail out. It's filled with instructional tips and really describes the meter in detail.

  5. My wife and I are a husband and wife team and soon to be a father and mother team. Our first child is due in October. We went through almost the same situation as you did. We had a wedding consultaion before we found out the news and they took the contract home and said they were going to mail the deposit.

Well in the following week we found out that we were pregnant. The couple had called right after to let us know that they wanted to book the date and that they were going to drop off the deposit in person. My wife and I thought about it real hard. They were choosing a big package and it's hard to say no to that. But we realized that even though I could actually shoot it, because I'm not the one actually going into labor. How could I focus on someone else's important day when it mine too! Last thing I wanted to do was to rush the wedding because "hey my wife is giving birth". That wouldn't have been very ethical. When clients book us, they get our undivided attention. So we were honest with them and told them the truth. They were bummed, because they really liked our work and our prices but they respected us and wished us well with the pregnancy.

We now have the whole month of October blocked out for any weddings. The due date is October 12.

Honesty is always the best policy and great customer service. Maybe they will remember that and want to shoot something else. You never know.

  6. What's a good solid meal to eat the day and morning before the

wedding? What kinds of foods do you avoid? For unpredictable

situations, what do you pack with your gear, Beano, Tums, Pepcid AC, etc?

I've gotten by so far without anything happening, but I need to

prepare my self for any possible situations. I want to assemble a

"first aid"/"most likely thing to happen" kit. Any input would

    greatly be appreciated.

  7. I recommend the Manfrotto 458B with pistol grip 322 RC2.

It's super easy to set up, built like a tank, lots of functionality and it's not heavy! You won't be sorry.

  8. Try removing the metal top of the hot shoe. Underneath are about 4 tiny philips screws. Tighten those and pop the metel top back on and that should fix your problem. You'll need one of those eye glasses screw driver sets. With a lot of use, those screws become loose over time.
