Great photo, Kirt. Gotta love that, no matter how good your action shots are, SOMEONE'S going to give you a pair of 3's! And uh, no, it wasn't me... ;)

Kirt, great timing of this shot. I get close but can never get the ball right on the bat like this one... Kudos!
Marty/Kirt, my daughter plays competitively and the hand positioning on this player is exactly as it should be when the bat makes contact with the ball. The rollover happens after contact. Her private hitting coaches are former professional baseball players (Giants, A's), and they have photos all over the facility of the pros with their hands in this same position when making contact... Thought I'd pass that on!

wow, nicely done!

Cute 6 year old in recreational softball game, this kid was pretty
good. On second look i may have cropped too much, but I wanted to
lead the viewer to the corner with the batter's eyes.
Comments appreciated!

Even the young kids can have some great plays... This is in an 8U
game.
Check out the right fielder in the background, I guess the play was
too close to watch!

Please view the large version.
While skiing earlier this year near Lake Tahoe, Nevada, there was a
break in the snowstorm I captured while on the ski lift. I thought
the red of the townhomes looked beautiful when contrasted with the
white snow around.
I struggled with the crop on this one, particularly because it was
snowing just beyond the ridge and the sky was actually dark and
plain compared to the foreground.
Comments are appreciated!

Thanks everyone for your comments, it's always great getting a second opinion on things.
Don, I like the shot you have that includes the pitcher, batter, and catcher. Funny I have one similar - only mine is focused on the batter. It's in my portfolio now, but I'll see if I can attach...
Take care!

Excellent comments, Don. Thanks so much for the feedback, especially regarding the feet above. Your crop looks much cleaner.
And sorry regarding the large photo sizes... I keep forgetting to downsize first!
Kind regards... Jim

Would appreciate any comments. 1 of 2 in the sequence.
This was a passed ball and the pitcher was covering the plate as the
runner from 3rd was stealing home. I wasn't quite set up for this
shot and wish I had a wider aperature/crisper shot of the 2 key
players. (I was fiddling with f/8 or 11 on a different shot, but
hey I'm still learning!)
I love the expressions on their faces and the ball captured in mid
air.

I meant to submit for comments at the same time as the other
softball picture... I would welcome any feedback you may have!
My first images were much more static, and now I'm trying to set up
for better dynamic/action shots. In practice this is much harder
than I imagined, always having to keep the camera ready for
anything! I certainly have a much greater appreciation for the pros
out there...
Thanks!

My first sports photos, would love some feedback...
Vaulting

Although the rider looks like she is falling off the horse, the
rider is perfectly in control. In this sport of vaulting she sets
her position along side the horse as it gallops at high speed around
the arena. It is quite the spectacle!
