  1. The Shine Dome is the home of the Academy of Science in Canberra,

Australia. This image was taken across the moat that surrounds the

building. The building us illuminated at night by coloured spotlights

that are constantly changing. This was taken in magenta light. The

companion image (Evening falls over the Shine Dome #2) was taken under

    green/blue lighting.

  2. Thanks, Matthew.  The Powerhouse Museum, located nearby, has a display showing how the effect was achieved.  If you happen to be visiting Sydney some time soon, it's worth a look, as is the building itself, of course.  This shot was taken from the new Goods Line Walk in Darling Harbour.

  3. Sydney Cove, shot from the Harbour Bridge. In the foreground ("the

Rocks") are examples of the very earliest buildings following European

settlement in 1788. In the background, more recent examples of

    high-rise development.

  4. Thanks - glad you like it.  We were experimenting at the time with taking pics in available light.  When I reviewed the images, I was taken with this one because of its moodiness - the feeling of introspection and sadness, almost, though in fact I think Robbie was just concentrating on his settings!  :)

Thanks, Jack.  It's taken inside a sculpture known as the Sky Dome, which is a fantastic cave-like creation with an internal pool and a dome providing a window to the sky.  You can hide yourself there and feel at peace with the world.  If you ever come to Canberra, it's a must see!
