The Shine Dome is the home of the Academy of Science in Canberra,
Australia. This image was taken across the moat that surrounds the
building. In the distance is a more recent addition to the Canberra
architectural scene, namely the Nishi Building.

Another beautiful autumn collection. Well done.

Great still life, Radu. I especially like the colour palette and the crispness of the image. Well done.

Thanks, Matthew. The Powerhouse Museum, located nearby, has a display showing how the effect was achieved. If you happen to be visiting Sydney some time soon, it's worth a look, as is the building itself, of course. This shot was taken from the new Goods Line Walk in Darling Harbour.

Hi Jerry, thanks for your comment. Glad you like it.

Hi Sergio, it's a fascinating building, just asking to be photographed! Thanks for commenting.

Thanks, Sergio. Glad you like it.

As for the portrait version, wonderful light well-captured. I prefer this landscape composition.

Wonderful light, well-captured.

A night shot of the John Gorton Building, which is a heritage-listed
building within Canberra's Parliamentary Triangle. Currently it houses
the Department of Finance.

The Dr Chau Chak Wing Building, designed by Frank Gehry, is the latest
addition to the University of Technology Sydney campus. It was opened
in early 2015.

Sydney Cove, shot from the Harbour Bridge. In the foreground ("the
Rocks") are examples of the very earliest buildings following European
settlement in 1788. In the background, more recent examples of
high-rise development.

Thanks for looking.

I can only echo the compliments of your previous commentators. A different and dynamic perspective.

If only my own messy backyard looked half as interesting! Well captured, Jack.

Well-captured Tony - a peaceful, glorious image.

An experiment in light and mood. Thanks for looking.

Oh, this is lovely, Matthew. You have captured the last rays of sunlight beautifully. Nice composition, too.
-
Great colour and composition, Radu. The exposure and shutter speed are superb.

Thanks - glad you like it. We were experimenting at the time with taking pics in available light. When I reviewed the images, I was taken with this one because of its moodiness - the feeling of introspection and sadness, almost, though in fact I think Robbie was just concentrating on his settings! :)

Thanks, Jack. It's taken inside a sculpture known as the Sky Dome, which is a fantastic cave-like creation with an internal pool and a dome providing a window to the sky. You can hide yourself there and feel at peace with the world. If you ever come to Canberra, it's a must see!

Thanks, Jack and Gail. The pups were certainly having fun. I have a series of shots of them racing along the bank and wrestling in the water.

The Shine Dome is the home of the Academy of Science in Canberra,
Australia. This image was taken across the moat that surrounds the
building. The building us illuminated at night by coloured spotlights
that are constantly changing. This was taken in magenta light. The
companion image (Evening falls over the Shine Dome #2) was taken under
green/blue lighting.
