  1. My question is this: Can I use my Vivitar on the d70 (only in manual

or aperture priority mode). Please don't tell me that it won't do

the iTTL and won't zoom-I already know this. What I don't know is

whether it will fry the camera (Cord Camera insists it will not but

couldn't avoid the "lecture" about all the other functions I will

not get). Second, providing it doesn't harm the camera, will it

basically work the way I need it to (eg will it work similarly to a

film camera such as my N90?). Also, I plan to use the Nikon AS-15

flash adapter on the shoe of the d70 ( allows you to use a PC sync

and therefore put the flash on a bracket). Why you may ask? Simply

put to use what I already have and avoid the cost of a new flash.

I've used manual and A priority for years and so don't mind using

these modes on the d70. Thanks for your ideas.

  2. I've looked high and low on the net and cannot determine whether this

camera has the standard pc sync for my viv 283/285. I have an n90

randomly giving me a hairline scratch (yes I've had it cleaned, now

instead of every roll I get it sporadically). So, I am considering

replacing it with the less expensive 8008s, but I do need the pc sync

(AF not a major issue). Any opinions appreciated. Thanks.

  3. Ray, I lived in bush AK for about a year and I highly recommend that you go to Talkeetna, and for about 150.00 take a 1.5 hour plane ride around Mt. McKinley. It's an unforgettable experience. I did it before I got into photography but still got great shots of glaciers and wispy mountain peaks with my Olympus Stylus Zoom. I've never shot 108 pictures so quickly.
  4. Discovery Island and Orlando Wetlands park would be great,if they were open. I just returned from Orlando and Disney has seen fit to close Discovery Island permanently, and Orlando Wetlands Park is closed in the winter. It's possible they reopen sometime in February. Boc Tower, southwest of Orlando, has swans and excellent spider webs (complete with spiders) around the main lake. If your lucky (I wasn't) the nature pond has birds hanging around, and a blind but you have to shoot through glass (which they do keep quite clean).
