1. Just picked up this lens and have a couple questions regarding settings.

1; what settings do you find most successful for shooting birds in flight. Auto focus C with 51 point or 3 D. Or something else.

2; have or do you have to fine tune focus in camera. Sometimes shots seem like there not 100% even through view finder.

  2. Thanks everyone for your input. I should have said thinking of second camera. I am very happy with the D300 it's just I

could use a second camera and pretty much like I thought there is not right now nothing right now worth updating to. So I

guess I'll wait and see what Nikon comes out with in the future. Not really looking to spend $5000 plus for the basic D800

setup. Again Thanks all for input.

  3. So I have a D300 and I'm thinking of updating. I'd like to stay with the dx format to keep the lenses I have for that format. The new D800

is nice but I would not get full use with the dx lenses so do I wait and see if Nikon comes out with a new dx model in the same class as

the D300 or go with the D800 and have to update lenses as it seems the switch is on to more full frame camers? Thanks for any help.

  4.
Are you planning on backpacking or trailer park camping? Not sure on the Adirondacks, I'm located in the Catskills Slide Mtn. High Point, Sundown, North/South Lake, Balsam Mtn are a few off the top of my head. North/South lake is a state camp ground the rest are pretty much tent camping backpacking spots. Sundown area has around 6 water falls within maybe 2 miles. Nice Views from the top of these mtns But your going to have to hike there. Hope this helps.
5.
Josh, Thanks for responding but I'm still confused a little. Like I said I see the photo in Critique form but they don't show up in top rated gallery or new photo gallery. Last photo I posted was on 1/17/09 rating avg 5.3 +/- so I would think I should have seen it. Thanks for responding.

  6. Just got back from Portland, Or. Left Albany, NY flew to Philly then onto Seattle. Flight back Portland, Or to Newark NJ then to Albany, NY tripod carried on all flights never any problem.
  7. Traveling down I-81 towards Harrisonburg, Va and Shenandoah National Park. Like to spend a day or 2 then head towards NC aand the Smokies for a day or 2. Any thoughts on this area for photo ops?
  8. I'm thinking of a spring trip south from NY through the Smokies maybe west to

Az. I'll be traveling with a truck camper on a 4x4 with wife and dog. I'm

interested in any photo op's along the way. Places to Hike that I can take the

dog on from what I've read most of the info I've read the National parks don't

allow to much hiking with a dog. Old farms, landscapes, off the beaten path

and over shot. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
