maybe just a little less grain (as i do think the grain works - its just that because there is no separation between the body and th background that it feels a little flat) and more contrast, like have the background a little lighter or darker perhaps? so that there is even more differenace in shade between the body and the background though it would help to know whether the grain is from using a fast film or whether this is digitally manipulated? hope that helps!

whilst i really like the image - i think that the overriding graininess makes it look a bit flat. something needs to lift him up a bit. but i really like the positioning of the guy and his stance and his glance.
  1. there is something really strange about this image in that the trees look either miniture sized or as though they were part of a three-dimentsional made-up set. perhaps it is the angle of your viewpoint or the strangeness of the trees or both. but i like the image. quite unsettling.

I had a question about monitor calibration - I recently got this

computer and was under the impression that the colour hues and

tonality are pretty accurate having seen them as prints (they are all

from negatives). I am seeing the images on the screen as I want them

to look. However, upon sendin am image to a friend, she wrote back

saying that the image was incredibly dark. So, to my eyes, the colour

hues are a light reddish background and a soft yellow - quite a light

image with soft shadows. If you are seeing an incredibly dark image,

please if you could let me know. Massive thanks.

  2. this is beautiful. pensecola? longest fishing pier in the world? i was there with my friend last summer for a couple of hours, but got quite light blue images, nothing like this. i think the lines in this are great of the pier, the beach chairs and the grass.
