    Thanks for all the comments! Much appreciated. With regard to the effect on the water, this is perfectly natural. It is a result of the lens being literally at or very slightly below water level - you need to find the right pond to be able to achieve this without getting wet!!

    The foreground has not been manipulated in any way. The strange effect is due to the lens being at water level ( I stand below a small dam/weir). The water was flat and the low sun directly behind me.

    Thanks for the comment. This was taken approx 4pm BST. The sun was about to go down above the hill directly behind me. SInce I was looking down the valley, the angle of light was roughly parallel to the camera lens.

    Thanks for the comments. Juhani - it was taken just after winter sunrise on a clear day with the sun directly behind me on a small loch in town surrounded by brown reeds about 2 metres high. There was no wind. I was standing below the level of the loch at a waterfall outlet, with the lens at water level. You can see the setup on the attached photo.
