I am a well established wedding photographer in my area. I only shoot weddings now. I have a 1300 sq ft studio that
I used when I did family, children...
I am getting rid of this because I don't need this much space. I serve the upper middle to high end clients in my
area. I'm not sure how I should approach meeting clients now. Should I try to rent a small space, move it to a nice
place in my home, or do the coffee shop thing many do? Do you think I would lose business or not be taken as
seriously? I have about 85% word of mouth right now. As long as I keep my service levels high do you think any of
these would cause a problem?

WHCC They are great. Extremely fast and accurate. I've sent off for 650 proofs by 9 am and had it at my door the next day. www.whcc.com

I'm going to this seminar in Chicago. Has anyone gone yet? What do you
think? I have only been to one seminar before. Do most people just bring a
pad of paper and pencil or do you bring your camera to the seminar and perhaps
use it?

I either bring a blanket or ask if anyone else has one she can sit on and then I tuck it under the dress so you can't see it.

I currently use AlbumsInc for my wedding albums and one type I use is the self-
mount from Renaissance Albums. However, lately it has come to my attention
there are places that sell the same thing for less. Can anyone give me a name
of a supplier you are happy with that has reasonable pricing?
Thanks

Kurt,
That looks like what I'm trying to do. I want a template that I can take a full sized jpeg, drop it in the template and move it around to the fit I like and the rest of the image doesn't show.
If you could email me or post something like that I would greatly appreciate it.

Is it possible to create your own album templates in PSCS2?
I would like to create a drag and drop template but I'm not sure how. I know
I can use "place" to do this but that drops the full image and it has to be
resized or it will warp the photos.
Thanks,

Robert,
The only thing I might change is that a few of the guys on the right need to come out a little more. Looks like they are trying to hide behide the ladies.
Speaking of large groups. I just did the largest group of my career this weekend also. Eleven groomsmen and eleven brides maids.

David can you explain why you do it that way? Do you think ShowIt is better for the web? Can either do both web and customer equally well?
-
I see a lot of people use either Proshow Gold or ShowIt for their slideshow
software. Which do you use and what is it that you like about it? If you have
used both which do you think is better, has more features, etc...
I really would like to add them to my website and be able to offer them for
sale but I'm not very familiar with what is the best software to use.

Please look at my blog and let me know what you think. I finally had a couple
who was willing to do anything. So I had them dance in the street and many
other things. Considering the fact that it was 103 degrees out they were a very
brave couple. Please let me know what you think.

ABE - Don't worry about the banks. They aren't the ones who are losing the money. It's the client who cashes it and forwards the money who is out the $3000.
-
I work in banking as well as have my own studio. Trust me this IS a scam. Don't do it. The cashiers check will come back as fake and you will be responsible for paying the bank back the $3000.

You can still have them made at your lab and take them to Kinko's or Office Max and have them spiral bind with a black back and clear cover. If I remember correctly this is what WHCC does as well.

For my higher packages I offer 150 free Thank You cards on 4x6. They have my studio info as well and they are a great marketing item. If they want them without my studio info I charge. $1.25/each.

Randy,
I shoot strictly digital and convert those images I think would look best into BW. So I give my clients a combination of BW and color. I do get many that will order some BW. I would say I sell about 30% BW. If you do decide to convert some day in PS I recommend Nik Effects. I really like the control and ease of use.

Fortunately for me very few couples insist on formals after. Most are done before the ceremony. But for the ones that do I make sure they understand that we will need to start shortly after or I can not guarrantee they will get all the requested shots. I clarify this with them at our meeting about 2 weeks prior to the wedding. That way all I have to do is give them a little look that we need to start and they are gathering all the people for me. Works well for me.

I was wondering from those who have done or do destination weddings
in the U.S. and abroad how did you get into it? How did you get word
out that you would travel to do these weddings? The furthest I have
gone is 300 miles. I would like to get more destination weddings but
I'm not sure how to go about letting people know.

Bill,
Do you think it will matter if it is a small home? Nothing fancy. Not as nice as the clients I will be serving?
I've never met anyone who does the coffee shop. What do clients say about it? Anyone have any feedback on that?
