  1. <p>Dear Alvin,</p>

    <p>Sorry I have been away.<br>

I haven't tried the revived batteries with my Charger C, which I am now using as a paper weight. The thing I hate about Charger C is that it automaticaaly changes to trickle charge on its own and I cannot tell whether the battery is fully charged or not.</p>

<p>The CellPro Multi4 charger you can google it and I got the charger plus the adapter as a package. Their service is excellent too.<br>

The Cellpro charger comes with a standard output lead with black and red wires. I just solder them to the smallest banana pin I can find that fits the holes of the battery.</p>

    <p>Cheers,</p>

  2. <p>Just search for</p>

<h1 >"Replacement Pack for Rollei 6000 sys Battery NiMH cells"</h1>

<p>in eBay and I got 3 packs from them, it fits well into the battery casing, no problem. Delivery is 10 days. Excellent service.<br>

Crucial thing is to buy the CellPro Multi4 charger that charges the NiMH pack.<br>

Also be careful not to short circuit the metallic parts. I was as clumpsy as a 9-year old novice and I set off some sparks when I was not careful with my metallic tools.</p>

    <p>Cheers,</p>

  3. <p>I was previously very despondent over my Charger C refusing to charge up my only 3 6000 Rollei batteries. When I was about to write off my 6-lens 6008AF kit with Phase One P20 back, I bought the CellPro Multi-4 charger which worked like a charm bring back my 3 batteries to life. However, when working in full AF mode, each original battery (containing 8 NiCd500mAh cells) only gives about 80 shots and died.</p>

<p>I recently bought 3 pre-assembled packs of NiMh1600mAh on eBay and ventured to replace the guts of the 6000 batteries. Being an electronics idiot with novice soldering skill, I removed the original NiCd package, de-solder the wires and re-solder them back onto the new pack, put everything back on and wham! it works like a charm. The first transformed NiMH battery got me 350 shots (each with the 80mm 2.8 AF lens forecd to focus and re-focus) in one go. And with the CellPro charger, it's back to full charge in 2 hours.<br>

I managed to change the guts of all 3 batteries within 30 mins.</p>

<p>I am an extremely happy man now with a fully revived 6008AF digital system> Schneider lens rule!<br>

  4. <p>I recently bought a CellPro multi4 charger with a 12V adapter. I just plug the red and black wires in the #2 and #4 holes of the battery (the fuse sitting above the role of holes) and select the default NiCad mode, and it charges all 3 batteries who are not chargeable with my C-Charger. The Multi-4 charger is made for RC-toys but it works excellent!</p>

    <p>Hope it helps,</p>

  5. Been offered one sample of Rollei 350mm f5.6 PQ lens at a good price. Wonder

what is the experience with this lens? I understand PQ version is older than

then the PQ-S, with shutter speed up to 1/500 sec. Is the optics and design

identical? How is the quality comapred to the fabulous 300mm f4 Apo-Tele Xanar?

I also know that 350mm in 6x6 format equates to ~200mm in 35 format, which is a

favourite focal length for my shooting. ANy samples to show?

    Please enlightened me. Much obliged,

    Larry

  6. Finally I took the dive...despite comments from friends saying I am going out

of my mind..in getting the Rollei 110mm f2 Planar lens *in addition* to the

    90mm f4 Apo-Symmar.

This 110mm lens is unique. So dreamy in the OOF brokeh, and the sharpness when

stopped down to f8 baffled me...never believed a Zeiss lens can be that sharp

until now. And the colour rendition is different from Schneider...emm

No wonder Rollei kept the lens lineage as such...every lens is unique. Even

the 90mm Apo-Symmar produce shots different from the 120mm makro-planar.

Worth my effort of searching for this babe in Hong Kong.

    Just to share my joy,

    Larry

  7. For focussing real close, you need a macro lens. There are three you can choose for the 6000 system : the 90mm f/4 Apo-Symmar(Schneider), the 120mm f/4 makro-planar (Zeiss)and the 150mm f/4.6 (Schnedier). Not too sure what close up you want to take, but for commercial product shot that need zero distortion, you go for the 150mm f/4.6, which need an extension tube of 67mm for it to focus to infinity. Having said, very few people uses the 150mm f/4.6 + 67 ET for *daily shots*. I have the makro-planar 120mm and recently bought the 90mm f/4 Apo-symmar as well. I find the 90mm Apo-symmar can surely double as a normal walk-around lens. The colours from Schneider lens are so unique, cannot be matched by Zeiss glasses.

All three macro lens are very very sharp. Period.

Of course, the cheapest chortcut is to get a 17mm extension tube, then you canmake your standrad lens a close-up lens. (But have to watch out for the change in the plane of the image that you get).

    Many thanks,

    Larry

  8. Forget Hassy

    Get Rollei 6008AF and the 120mm macro(manual), or the 180mm f/2.8AF with a digital back (16MP or 22 MP).

You will be just fine with a budget of US$25,000

  9. Just checked with my 150mm f/4 Tele-Xenar. No shutter blade seen when lens not attached to camera. Moving the aperture ring from "A" to other positions do not make the shuuet blade appear aslo. In fact, I have checked with all my 4 other Rollei Schneider lens and one Rollei Zeiss lens (makro 120mm), still no blades visible when looking through the lens.

Better take it to your Rollei dealer to have it checked.

    Thanks,

    Larry

  10. I just finished hoarding all the legendary Rollei Schneiders lens(I can see forumers here have different views) and will play with them hoping to get some nice pics. So far, I would rate the 50mm Super-Angulon f/2.8 AF, 60mm Curtagon f/3.5, 150mm Tele-Xenar f/4 and the 180mm Tele-Xenar f/2.8 AF all above the standard 80mm f/2.8 AF Xenotar, and my 120mm f/4 Zeiss makro. Schneider lens are positively, definitely BETTER lens.

  11. Hello,

I was reading the small booklet that comes with my 50mm f/2.8 Super-

Angulon AF lens and there was a sentence : "AF Lens are NOT suitable

for use with cameras of the Professional or SLX series". Is it true?

I am getting a 6001 Pro body as a backup to my 6008AF. So if I use

the AF lens on the 6001 Pro body in manual focus way, will I damage

the lens/6001 Pro body? I dare not try...

    Please help,

    Larry
