1.
Hi Everyone. I've been absent for a while now due to firewall limitations at work. But the IT gods relented and here I am again. This week's contribution is yet another shot of my son taken with my new 35mm f1.8g lens. I really liked it but I kind of prefer my 50mm. What is your opinion? Second, I tried to clone out a very distracting and large amount of highlight but I think it is obvious. I used a combination of replacements, gaussian blur, healing brush etc. Can anyone recommend me a better technique, so that I can have a large print of the photo?
Oh btw, brilliant shots so far as always especially jonathan Yiu's.
Cheers.
2.
Good WeDnEsDaY everybody!
I was absent last week as I had to attend a meeting abroad and this week's contribution is the proof of that! I think these are the Alps but I was not able to check the exact location. Anyone who can help with that?
D80 18-200vr@18mm f22 1/80 iso 200 shot in raw and processed in ps. Another good reminder was the double polarization in my images when I used the polarizing filter. It creates an interesting rainbow like effect, without the appeal of course. As far as I know it is due to double polarization form the plane window and the filter. Our pros can clarify that further I presume

And I want to thank those who commented on my little eggs in #16. And yes one of the eggs was hatching. It turned out to be a very small larvae. After a thousand shots with my primitive macro setup, I successfuly captured it but it wasnt worth posting here.

00WOZv-241727684.jpg.f487181546ca8d816addc25937df312d.jpg

 3.
I guess I am a little bit late this week. As I mentioned in #15, this week's contribution was taken last thursday. My wife discovered these little fellas, while she was washing the dills that we picked up from a firend's garden. I once again stacked the helios in front of my 50mm f1.8 and took some shots. The lighting was not ideal so there is some movement blur. D80 1/2s@f14 iso 1600 handheld, shot in jpg and processed in PS.

00WI3N-238155784.jpg.d33e9c566833189b9ec21b6231020257.jpg

 6.
Good morning from cloudy and depressive Ankara.
I like to comment on photos after seeing the whole lot but I have to say "Wow Matt! What a stunning start!"
Last week I was a bit late to submit my contribution and didn't have any chance to comment. My apologies.
This week's contribution is another shot from our latest weekend get away. Though it is not a landscape or a travel photo.
We went to a very nice and small café in Amasra and ordered hot chocolates and we got a complementary plate of Turkish delights and home made organic jams... It was such a festive end to the day that I wanted to share with you.
Cheers.
7.
Me again! I was absent a few weeks due to insufficient quality of the photos I've taken. We took a short break last weekend to the western Black Sea region and this is one of the decent shots I got. It looked much better when viewed bigger but I decided to post it anyway.
Cheers.
10.
Hi all!
First, I want to thank Tiffany for her nice comments.
Today I will dare to submit a portrait of my son, yet again. Given the level of professionalism and creativity in this forum concerning portraits I suspect that this weeks submission will be a subpar sample but his misty eyes melt my heart!
He is 15 months old now and knows how to use his much developed crying skills to get what he wants. But alas! my wife is more stubborn than he is. You can imagine the rest.
Cheers from sunny but cold Ankara.
11.
OK! I have to make it up for last week. so here are my comments.
Narayan Kovvali , definitely increased my desire to shoot star trails.
Tiffany Brook , I really like your portraits. Always emotional.
Lil Judd , Jaw dropping detail. As I donot have one of those reverse rings, I usually use two 50 mm's stacked together. I have posted one on 2010: #1 but it was far from being tact sharp! By the way, I always have to use my mobile to look at your photos as the web page you upload yours is blocked by the firewall at work ;).
Ertugrul Kilic , Nice feeling. Plus, this festival is on my "things to do before you die" list. So, I am emotionally attached.
Jeff Farkash , Just wow!
Aguinaldo de Paula , Very nice feeling created by the high key.
Ashim Dey , made me want to cuddle the toy! I made one of my friends buy LX-3 and now I am jelous of him! Really great pice it is
Bob Dein , too good for a first a try! ;)
And the others I like most so far:
Paula Wang , Cees Maas , Kemal Riza, Sankha Hota , Mark Gordon , Filip Lucin , Slava Nikulin, Pascal Burel, Michael Mixon
Cheers.
12.
Yay! It's wednesday again.
First, I have to apologise for last week. I promised to write my favorites but didn't. It was a hectic week and I simply didn't have time. I'd also like to thank Richard Karash and Tiffany Brook for their encouraging comments. It means a lot to me. Really!
This week's contribution is also from the last photo hunt. I have a better shot of the fishes but the content might me inapropriate for some viewers. So I decided to go for this one.

00VuEn-225581684.jpg.909c08287b9163d267c268063ec61034.jpg

 13.
Wow! This week is particularly vibrant! I will make a list of my favourites later in the week in order not to miss anyone. But first...my contribution.
We went on photo hunting at the historic district of Ankara like every amateur photographer in the city and they came out to be dull and cheesy as expected. This one one of the few I liked. The woman with the headscarf and the cheesy artificial flowers created a warm feeling and had a story to tell.
Greetings
Matt Laur, Eric James , Alejandro Held , Jose Angel, Jeannean Buglady, Juhani Vanhala, Phil Burt, Kemal Riza, Aguinaldo de Paula, Gwen Klaus, Dallas McVicker, Carey Moulton, Roberta Davidson, keerthi s r, Maurice Orozco

 15.
Hi all!!
First, I owe a late thank you to those who commented on my photo in #48.
This week's submission is the result of a series of experiments both in production and photography of chaviar from salmon roe. I spent 2.5 hours to produce edible chaviar from a sack of salmon roe that I got from the local fish market for free!! and then another 2.5 hours trying to get a decent shot using my 50mm f1.8 with a helios 50mm in front of it hand held!! this is the final product.
Hope you enjoy it.
Best wishes for the new year.
16.
Thank you Jose for coming up with one of the most brilliant ideas in this forum and persistantly and punctually starting the thread week after week. No need to mension the quality of the first of the photos which inspire and challenge all the users to go out, shoot and be a better photographer every week.
I also want to thank Matt for accepting the challenge that comes with continuing this tradition.
Happy new year to all members.
17.
Yay! Wednesday again! Marvelous photos already...
My Favourites so far:
Per-Christian Nilssen, Kris Heylen, Gary McGhee, Benjamin Schaefer
My Contribution this week is a photo I took in Istanbul. It dates back to September but I only had the chance to process it this weekend. Please let me know if the post processing is excessive, which I tend to think the more I look at the photo...
Cheers.
18.
Another first time poster here.
I have been following this thread for a while now and It's been such a joy that I have set the alarm on my mobile in order not to miss the thread.
My contribution for this week is my private model/son, Poyraz. The Photograph was taken early in the morning by the window. It dates back to May but I wanted my first post to be one of my best shots. I am sure you will understand.
Cropped, adjusted the contrast and a little sharpened.
Greetings from sunny Ankara.
Durukan

00U0Nn-156956084.jpg.c241c6b6273a8b1087a20b76be769a15.jpg
