  1. depending on the type of file you shoot (jpeg or raw) will depend on whether to use auto and wb. but also your camera auto wb. I would use manual, if you can go by temprature to get a more accurate reading, but if you have any of the d2 cameras with the wb light right in front of the hotshoe, you can't go wrong with either.
  2. I'm struggling between getting a used d2h, or a d200. I know the megapixel count

is quite different, but i have seen some photographers (ie, mike colon) use a

d2h for his weddings, but i'm sure he also has a d2xs. is the d2h enough to

print fairly large prints? Say 20x30? if i shoot raw that is.

  3. My friend recently recived a free SDHC from another friend or family. But is it

comptatible with the S7c? Not sure what to tell my friend since I never use SD

    cards as I use a D70s, D200, and D2H =). If anyone can tell me if it's

    compatible, that'd be great!

  4. Tokina is a company who is made up of people who have worked in Nikon optics. I guess you can say Tokina is the best 3rd party version of nikon lenses you can get. for the most part anyways. Tokina has an extremly well built quality. Unless you really need the 2mm, then I would go for the tokina 12-24mm. Plus, @10mm on the sigma, its' really distorted. Plus, the tokina is f/4 all the way through. Good luck to ya.

  5. Make sure your WB is on preset. Or "PRE". Hold it down, and it'll say "PRE" where the number of frames you have left would normally be. Usually take a picture of something that is Grey or white. Grey usually works best for me. Best wishes.

  6. I have tried the gary fong. PErsonaly, i dont like it. If i wanted studio results, i'd get a studio. the flash just doesn't look right to me on the canon image. And i'm aware of the white balance on the nikon picture. please take into account that all i did was resize it. Not to mention i shot that at f/1.4, so no duh there's going to be ambient light coming through thep icture. =)
  7. Okay, so i know i've posted a forum about this, but i didn't exactly get a good

answer i wanted. For those who dont know, i actually use both nikon and canon

for several reasons. Anyways, I was hoping if anyone knew good links that had

good preset curves for the Canon mark II 1D. When I use flash, the shadows are

extremly heavy. As i've said before, i want a curve that will reduce post

processing time. i will be using this camera along with a 17-40mm f/4L and

70-200mm f/2.8L IS for a wedding soon, and would like to prevent those main

shadows, while keeping maintaining good contrast and color. here's an example.

personally, the lighting doens't look right to me. And i would use my nikon, but

i'm currenlty letting someone borrow that.<div>00K5S5-35158384.jpg.4e788b6be9b1bd26bedaa124cf4f348b.jpg</div>

  8. Personally, I think the 1.4 is worth the extra money, but that's only because i've actually found myself shooting more and more at f/1.4. You learn when not to shoot that low, and when to shoot taht open. To be honest, with my 50mm, i go no higher than f/2.2, and f/2.2 i find to be sharper on the f/1.4 than the f/1.8 version.
  9. So I know i've posted this before, and I've heard alot about using the D80

battery grip, d100, etc...My question is, how well does it fit? If it does work

that is. >.< Does anyone actually do that? haha. Anyways, I just want to make

sure that the battery grip will work with my d70s before i buy something that

doesn't even fit/work with my camera.

  10. So I recently bought a Mark II 1D. No doubt, its a great camera. But i'm

completely clueless as to how to set the settings. I want to get more vibrant

colors. Am i tweaking it wrong or something? i haven't tried the custom curve

setting yet, but I will soon. BUt for now, what can I do? Any advice would be

great! I'm trying to save time with post processing. thanks!

  11. So i'm fixing to buy a D1 and a d1h. why? because i just want an SLR that i

won't have to worry about getting it stolen since hte cost is so low. =D Anywho,

i'm more concerned about the shutter lag between the D1 and the d1h. What is the

time on it anyways? I have a D70s. is it faster than my D70s? I'm mainly using

it so i can take full advantage of shooting my 50mm f/1.4 at 1.4 and with the

1/16,000 shutter. Opinions are welcomed. yes, i'm crazy for wanting a d1 and d1h. =P

  12. So I'm on a super low budget. 600 max. i really dont want to go that high, but

    if i have to,then i will. I want an f/2.8 zoom. I already have a 85mm f/1.8. I

generally shoot wide open unless flash is permitted, then i bump it to f/4. that

is with my mid range f/2.8. Any recomendations? anything like the 70-200 would

    be great! hehe.

  13. That lens is a bit soft. I was considering it, but Now, i dont know due to lack of sharpness. it's not known for its sharpness afterall.
  14. Just to let everyone know, the sensor on the d50 has a poppy, cartoony coloring. In fact, thats why the color pops like crazy, which is what i love about the d50. 12-24 is very nice. hope you can find a good copy, i went through 3 copies before finding a super sharp one. now i love it to death!
  15. you know what? Get the Tamron 17-50mm. That thing is tack sharp. I shoot that at f/2.8 and I dont photoshop sharpen at all. yes, its that sharp. and ofcourse, 50mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/1.8 if money can get it. hope this helps! if you want something more midrange, the tamron 28-75mm is the way to go. dont think third party sucks. you just have to know which ones are quality and which ones arent. =)
