Pond skaters are very agile insects and have the ability to jump to

avoid predators.

During winter, pond skaters can often be found hibernating together in

sheltered places, such as garden sheds.

Pond skaters use surface tension to walk on water.

I used 3 Kenko extension tubes, Sigma 150mm, reversed Canon 85/1.8. Mirror lockup, remote shutter release..

I do use Photoshop CS5 for stacking smaller images as it is more accurate than Zerene Stacker which I used for this image.

This was photographed with a Canon 1D MK3, 3 extension tubes, Sigma 150mm, reversed 85/1.8. Mirror lockup and remote shutter release. 2 Goose neck LED lamps diffused with paper towels for lighting.
