  1. I just returned from Florida, I carried a 4x5 on the plane no problem and loaded a large

suitcase with tripod background etc. I also paid to have an extra bag that being

background stands $10.00. They made me xray the large format film, hate doing that. I

have not developed it yet, pray it is ok.. background stands minor damage to one of the

knobs. Hope this helps a bit.

  2. John I can tell you this. When ever anyone asks me how to see my work I tell them to google search my name. The more people google search you, the more you float to the top. If I search my name, alot of Scott Clarkes come up but I am on top. Just because of the traffic. Not sure if that helps or not. But google seems to rely on traffic.
  3. Biliana that is a million dollar question. With portraits more than anything else, it comes down to point of view. Shoot what you like and do not look for approval from anyone other than your subject. They are the ultimate judge, and they can be brutally honest.
  4. When I said scrap, I don't mean get rid of rates already aquired, I know they mean alot to some people. I should have said discontinue and save. Feel free to get rid of mine though, they are getting worse all the time. LOL. Regards.
  5. Look I cared about ratings for about two weeks and then said f**K it. The only reasons it matters is for views, which we all want. You do have to be on the first pages to get the high number of views. Why not scrap the vote and add an option where people can add a photo as a favorite. Those that get added the most will then float to the top. Let everyone see peoples favorites and you will get an opinion what people are adding re freinds, nudes etc. I know I would be very selective on what I add as a favorite. I mean this is just pretty basic but tweaks here and there could be added. Just a thought not a solution. And you will never please everyone.
  6. jude it is 24 hours from your first upload. If you upload one at 9:00 am and three more through out the day. You have to wait 24 hours from your first post. Then when 24 hours on your next post, and then next and so on. It does not refresh just on 24 hour clock. Hope you know what I mean. This is how it works on my site anyway.
  7. Chris if you try anything different you will be given 3's like bees to honey. If people would take the time to look and try and understand what the artist is trying to say there would be alot less fustration.Different does not mean bad. I see clearly EXPERIMENT attached to this photo. So you are to me looking for feed back not 3's. People attach 3's without looking. I will never understand why people can leave rates without knowing who they are. I just don't get that. When ever anyone leaves me a (known) rate I attend there site to judge the source. And I care more when I get a 7. I want to know why the person liked my image. Most often it is because they have a similar style .The problem with 3's is your photo is not going to be seen, and that is the only reason I am here. To be seen. This photo as you say is indeed different so you will be marked low. So far I have not rated,so perhaps I should say nothing. I would rate if I was comfortable with this system. When I look at work I don't see numbers. As for the photo I like it for the reason that it is different, I crave different. I look and try and understand how you got there. I am also here to learn. I wish more people would attepmt to be a little different, but I understand why they don't, 3's. Regards.
  8. I am a Police Officer in Canada. This is going on everywhere. And for amounts you would not imagine. They will be frauds. You will most likely get aked to deposit the rest in an account, and here some story how they made a mistake. Most likely the bank will not know they are frauds. Most are very hard to tell. Contact your local Police fraud division before cashing them. Just a suggestion.
  9. I use both Mac and PC, and have some trouble sometimes with the Mac. Alot of times I don't see the problem until I see it on the PC later. Like Arnulf it is most often color, but also density. I have now got in the habit of checking it on the PC before I put in critique. If I don't someone will be all over it. Thanks for the question and response. It is much help to me. Regards to you both.
