By Barup (DK) just east of the road between Hellested and Karise is

a Bronze Age mound with a magnificent view of the river valley. The

mound is known all over the Danish country as "Elf Hill" - elf king's

residence. Hawthorn on the mound is according to an old legend a

gift from the chief of Stevns. Elves guarded apparently jealously the

gift. At least other legends tell about people, whose horses died,

after having eaten the twigs of the Hawthorn

Kronborg Castle on starboard side. Kronborg is the castle on which the

story of Shakespeares Hamlet takes place.

White Stork just captures a poor Water Vole. Thanks and larger view

best.

Zealand, Denmark
