  1. Im using a Canon Rebel, and out hunting one day I go to take a picture, and on

    my lcd displays CF Error.

I've tried getting the pictures off of the card, but my computer just won't

read it, I can't get anything off of the card, I can't even get into the card

    (via a computer)

I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to recover the pictures, or

    do that might help.

I would appreicate any help, thank you.

  2. - "Voyeurism," a new crime, is defined as the secret observation or recording of a person where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy and the person is observed in a state of nudity or sexual activity.

I think it's safe to still have your camera, as this kind of law will still be based on intent. If you (as stated above) by mistake took a picture of a flasher they might let that go, but if you posted and highlighted the subject on the net, or sold it. Well that may not go over too well. There are some really grey area's but I believe that the law is not more so in place to proscute them but more as a deturrant. Now that people know that it is against the law it is more unlikely to happen. Just my opinion thats all.

  3. Okay for some support (not that I agree with what Kodak did) however I think that they felt that the old logo gave an impression of "old" or outdated, now that we are stepping into a new digital age perhaps they felt that a simpler more modern (even though it dosn't) look would help to improve the image. When I see the Kodak logo, I think film and with film some people relate that to old (not me but others). Perhaps they are trying to convay a different image. Just a thought. I think that the logo should not have been changed but...
  4. Hmm, though I do agree with you guys on many points I just want to say, at Walmart we sold "no name cards" well impact. We had many returned for a myrid of reasons. I myself bought one, for a back up, and had to return it because the card kept asking to format again and again, so I would stick to some name brands. Just from my experiance.
  5. Gah, you make us Walmart employee's or should I say slaves looks bad! I sell digicams at Walmart too! (Im at work haha). Well the best bet too after a little reading is to come in and actually use them. As well there should be a 30 day return policy, no questions asked so try em' out! (Then take them back) The Canon A520 is a good bang for your buck because it's being replced by the up model, the shutter lag is a little long though. Unless she strickly wants a slim, try and stay away from all those "flashy" cameras like the Stylus verve sometimes you pay for the looks. You can get pretty good bang for your buck for some of the lower kodaks, though some build issues. But the net is your friend! I dont think I saw dcresource.com up there either thats my favorite site. Good luck with the hunt! (by the by NEVER EVER buy a camera that comes in a bubble pack no matter how good or how much it is, at Walmart anyhow)
  6. Check out some sites and read about both cameras, such as www.dcresource.com or www.dpreview.com, I own the XT and that sucker is small, so if you have big hands it may be a little uncomfortable, but then less to pack, pro's and con's to everything. One thing I really like about it (compared to others in it's class) is that it is very operatable at cold temperatures, the plastic body compared to that of some metal one's helps. Just my 2 bits.
  7. Hmm, ya that looks familiar. I had a couple come in with photo's from Vegas, they had that kind of red band, and a few other tone changes. Evedently what that was from was the sensor it was loose by just a bit and sometime it would jar out of place, or so I was told when they went to repair it (they came back and told me). I don't know if that's true or not. Just my 2 bits.
  8. I was looking for a higher zoom lens, and working from a very small

budget I was going to order in a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM.

I heard that this lens was horrible though, but Im not that picky

for softness I can live, Im no proffesional. I was wondering if I

should go for the 300mm or just buy a 85mm prime and crop it? Any

    advise for a amature photographer?

  9. Wow, an L series lens *drool*, as nice as those are, (and I believe as stated before) you have to consider packing that around. If you have a smaller set, like a prime lens and a bag (with a little tripod) your more likly to take that to more places. You can always have a larger zoom or another bag, should you wish.

(I dont know how theft is down there, but a nice L series lens on a 20D is rather tempting...)

  10. Wait... Info, in the view finder? You mean other then the focus points. All you should see are a few a 7 squares with dots in them. Its not a lcd just a image reflected off of your mirror. DSLR's work differently then a digicam (fixed lens) as what you see is what is reflected off of the mirror, when you click the shutter buttion, the mirror locks up then the shutter opens, exposing light on the sensor, where as with the digicam light is always on the sensor, so what you see is the light on the sensor constantly giving you what the sensor sees. Which is why a DSLR dosn't have video. I may be misreading the question, however it should not have any additionay info in the viewfinder other then the focus points, I own one. Tell me if this is what you ment.

  11. You can always just get a couple of soft boxes or such, rig up an impractical set up with a couple of lamps or etc, (fix the white balance in camera or on the comp) and use the in camera flash. A little knowlege can go a long way, if you know what your doing, a camera phone could work. I recomend spending at least a hour or 2 reading on the net. Then decide what your going to buy. As stated before a 15,000 dollar camera won't do anything more if you don't know how to use it.

  12. Lol, I have a Rebel XT with 3 lens, and it dosn't matter where I go I pack that sucker around, it also seem unamious that everyone else here does too. If your looking for a smaller "digicam" you can just go with a slim point and shoot, or a larger one if you want the manual controls, get something simple, like a 3 or 4 mp, that you wont regret spending that money on a lens. I sell cameras so I can talk all day here but I would recommend the Fuji E550, 5.2 effective megapixles, 4 times optical, super CCD (octagonal pixles as opposed to square ones). Its pretty simple, compact, nice to hold, and still has manual controls for those who disire it. As well the shutter lag is significantly less then others. Go to dcresource.com and look up a few. Or just go to a store where they let you try them out.
