nice shot.. I'd rate it at least an 8 all around, possibly a 9. I would hoever look over the rules of rugby if you are interested in shooting it more, though you've done a very good job first time out.. as mentioned before, this is a scrum, and no, ruggers dunn like football comparisons.

oooh.. painful... hope they don't actually scrum with their hindparts in the air like that ;-)

  1. I don't much care for the rating system either, on this particular set of images it seems entirely useless to get a rating and not know why it was given. More so on the other shots in this series, but including this one as well. I just prefer comments, though I do see your point.

In any case, thanks for your comment on this and the preliminary hair program design. I value them greatly.

    cheers,

    K

  2. I see the attraction of this shot, especially in the context of the portfolio, and I must say, the portfolio represents a talented photographer Having said that, I'm not too hot on the shot. My problem with it is that though it is pretty, It's rather "boring". I wouldn't want to look at it for more than a second, and it would be one of those shots that I'd neither throw away nor display by itself. (In a group, it works, it fits a niche) Of course that's my personal oppinion. I commend the photographer for going out on a limb with an unusual approach to a bird photograph with less than ideal equipment. I personally love silhouettes, and like what the photographer was trying to do, but believe that a winning shot is possible, it's just not this one. I thank you for sharing, and and enjoyed viewing not only this shot, but in particular, the portfolio, thanks, K
  3. I love the shot, but I'm finding that there may be just a little bit too little contrast/difference between the car and the background. It's an exceptional pan job, but I wonder... if you had panned for a milisecond longer would the buildings in the background still be visible? It might have helped isolate the car. Maybe you can bring the contrast up in photoshop or.... hold it.... I have the perfect thing... do an ansel adams to it. AA used to slightly burn in around the subject. Perhaps if you doged the car abnd burned in the background a bit, the image would improve.

Nevertheless, I love the shot, good show,

    Karsten Moran
