Hello,
I am currently migrating to the digital world from film and realizing I need to
figure out how to store my digital images in an organized manner now before it
gets out of control. I did search the old threads, but some were so old I wasn't
sure if they were still good in terms of new software.
What I need is something that will allow me to organize my photos and tag them
so I can easily find them by keywords later, regardless of when they were shot
and for what event. I already use photoshop for editing. I'm purchasing soon a
new Macbook Pro, and already work with apple computers, so it needs to be a mac
compatible. I'm expecting to have a lot of images within the year because of work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your opinions and responses. This has been really helpfull. I'm gonna go
to a store in person and see what feels better to hold before I make my final decision.
Thanks a lot!

I'm trying to choose a digital camera that would better suit me to do photo journalistic work. I would have
about US$ 5 500 to purchase a camera plus lenses. I have in the past shot a lot of medium and large
format film and spent too many days and nights locked in darkrooms printing (and have printed digitally
before, but always from scanned film), but have very little experience with digital cameras and now find
myself a bit overwhelmed. I have read about the Canon 40D, Canon EOS 5D and Nikon D300 but don't
know what the best option is. The photographs would eventually be used in magazines, newspapers and
on the web. Are the full frame cameras (EOS 5D) a better option? Or would one of the other two cameras
be enough for my needs? What would be your choice of camera and lens withing that budget? Any help is
appreciated.
Jpeg/tiff at final size for chromira?
in The Digital Darkroom: Process, Technique & Printing

I'm located in Sweden and found a lab here that does Chromira prints. That is
going to be the first time I order one of these. It's not exactly what I wanted
(I would prefer an epson inkjet print for my b&W image) but it's what's
available. Problem is now that I am reading their instructions on how to prepare
the file I'm finding some of the requests a bit strange.
As far as I know, when printing inkjet, it is better to scan the neg at 300% for
a bigger size and then go bigger on printer driver, right? Is it different with
Chromiras? The lab requested that the file be at the size of the final print.
Also, they want a jpeg or tiff file. Aren't jpegs not that great for printing?
Should I go with tiff then?
I am using a scanned 4x5 negative for this, and the final print will be about
20x24.
